Clear immigration n customs
Hi!
I m travelling from Seoul to Chicago onward to JFK!
So my question is as follows:
Since Chicago is my first arrival city in us.
Do I need to clear immigration which means fill up disembarkation card. & also collect my check in baggage from seoul and re-check in again to JFK?
As I know my boarding pass will issue to JFK.

You will clear immigration/customs in you first point of entry at US-Chicago in your case. Then,in Chicago, you have to pick up your bags, go through US customs and re-check you bags again to JFK.

European airspace open
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has been reopened. Eurocontrol expects half of the flights departing today.
In some parts of Europe, airspace has only been released in certain air corridors.
"I'm so happy," said one man with tears in his eyes as he ran for his flight from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport on Monday, one of three bound for New York, Shanghai and Dubai with almost 800 passengers on board.
Dutch Transport Minister Camiel Eurlings promised that the Netherlands was "taking a lead" in getting Europe moving, but said its airspace could be closed again if ash levels rose.
Scottish and Italian airspace reopened at 0600 GMT this morning. France opened several air corridors.
IATA sees losses worse than after 9/11.
Please note that it will take some time before all flights are operative again and please note that airport mortuaries and some cargo will get priority.

Connecting between terminals
My wife and kid are arriving by Etihad at terminal 4 connecting through American Airlines to Washington DC at terminal 8. Can she recheck the baggage to American Airlines again after customs at T4 ifself, or do we need to carry the baggage to T8. If so what is the process. Clarification is greatly appreciated.

After she pass the immigration she has to pick up her bags and go through US customs. Immediately after that she can re-check her bags at Connecting flights counter for Etihad(yes, Etihad is the one that will transfer the bags over to AA). Everything that takes place at Terminal 4. After that she can take the Airtrain to T8.
She can carry her bags over to T8 and re-check them in there if she choose so.

Air India departures
My wife and daughter are taking Air India flight from JFK-Bombay on 22nd April. Is the airspace in UK still closed or the Air India operating the flights on scheduled timings ?

For that you have to contact Air India. The flight makes a stop in London which is closed for now. Yesterday's(04/19) flight status was set as "Unknown" and I am pretty sure that they did not fly.

can one walk from terminal 2
can one walk from terminal 2 to terminal 1, and how long would it take.also is there a secure shuttle bus for delta customer between terminal 2/3 and terminal 1.

Yes, you can walk the distance(~5min) and No, there is no Delta shuttle between those terminals.
