thank you

Hi,
my wife and I need to get to jfk from prospect avenue station 16th street between 4th and 5th avenue.
which is the cheapest easiest way apart from taxi. thanks

Take the D, N or R train to Atlantic Ave/Pacific St ($2.25), follow signs to LIRR and take to Jamaica ($8/$5.75 off-peak, all trains stop at Jamaica), walk upstairs to AirTrain ($5) and take to all terminals. The Far Rockaway A train will take you to Howard Beach/AirTrain however there are no Brooklyn connections to the A from the D, N or R so LIRR at Atlantic Ave is closest and fastest.

Hello!
My relative is coming from Europe on November 4th at 18.35 and then needs to get on a flight to Charlotte, NC. How long will it take for him to go through the customs and get to a domestic terminal to fly to NC? I am trying to figure out for what time to buy him a ticket to NC.

Also, his flight back is from JFK on the 22nd of Nov at 19.05. How much will it take him to get from a domestic terminal (flying from Charlotte to JFK) to an international one?

So if he arrives to JFK from Europe at 18.35 pm, then can he make it on a flight at 21.50 from JFK to Charlotte???
Thank you!

2.5-3 hours for transfer from intl to domestic , and 2-2.5 hours for domestic to intl flight.

What is the simplest way of travelling from Washington DC directly to the airport? If it is taxi/limousine, what is the estimated cost? Otherwise -- bus or train?

Megabus or Boltbus from DC to NY-Penn Station is about $25, Amtrak is $45 and up but genereally faster than bus. From Penn Station; taxi is $45+tolls+tip, NYAS express bus is $15, LIRR to Jamaica and AirTrain to terminals is $$13/$10.75 off-peak, or E subway to Sutphin Blvd/JFK and then AirTrain is $7.25.

how long in advance do I chekked in for an overseas flight
(Copenhagen, by SAS)

At least 2-2.5 hours in advance.

I plan to fly to London on Dec 21, 2010 and fly back to JFK airport on Jan 28, 2011. I'll arrive at JFK T3 at 12:40pm and then on 15:50pm I'll take another flight to Beijing, also boarding through T3. However, my U.S. visa expires on Dec 20, 2010 and I only have one month's grace period. Is it possible for me to collect my baggage after arriving at JFK and take it to another flight WITHOUT ENTERING the U.S. borders?

My flight from London to JFK is KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and the flight from JFK to Beijing is AirChina. This is not a transit, so I may have to collect my baggage myself.

One more thing, do I need to cross the U.S. borders to change to another flight?

No, this is not possible. After you land at JFK, you HAVE TO go through US immigration and customs regardless where is your next connecting flight going to.
The term "crossing the borders" does not exist at the airport - once you land , you are in USA and you have to undergo the same immigration and customs procedures like everybody else.

Then is it possible to change plane as transit like JFK is a stop between London and Beijing, and have someone collect my baggage for me, so I don't need to enter the U.S.?

If I have to enter the U.S. by any means, then I might have to apply for a tourist's visa, which seems weird though..

It does seem weird but this is how the US immigration law is - all transit passengers have to have US visa.

what shops are in your departure lounge?
