Is there a walkway connecting Terminal 8 and Airtrain platform or do you need to get out and cross the street?

Its right on the terminal level.

Hi,

I am travelling from Detroit to JFK (T3) via DELTA and then from JFK T1 to Paris on AF. The transit time is 1 hour 30 minutes. I understand that my luggage will be checked in through to Paris.

1. How much time will it take to move from T3 to T1?
2. Do I have to go through Security & Customs in JFK?

Regards,

VJ

1. Air train on track 2 from T3 to T1. It should take about a minute.
2. No need to clear Customs only security before your second flight.

I arrive T8 at 19.35 Ameriacn Eagle from Indy so I guess will have to wait for my bag (handluggage)at the steps, my transfer flight (AA to London also T8) takes off at 20.45. Will that be long enough (assuming no delays).

Thanks 'anonymous' for your reply that 45 mins transfer is OK for a 'legal connection' in T8. Does legal mean that I can do it, even if I have to wait for 5 mins for my hand luggage at the arriving aircaft steps? I have 1hr 10 mins.

Yes, terminal 8 allows "legal connections" of 45
minutes.

i am flying in JFK with Finnair from Helsinki, I have a connection flight to Pittsburgh. I arrive in JFK ar 3.50pm, my flight to Pittsburgh is at 8.30pm with American Eagle. Both air companies are located in Terminal 8.
1. Do I clear customs in JFK or Pittsburgh? If in JFK, are the customs located in terminal 8?
3. If I have clear the customs in JFK do I have to check in all over again with American Eagle?
2. Do I have to go and pick up my luggage, if it is booked all the way througt?
Thanks

1. In New York JFK airport. Most likely you will clear it at terminal 4.
2. No.
3. Yes you will pick it up before Customs and recheck it again with American Eagle.

Finair arrives at T8, not T4, so the customs clearance will be at T8.

you will clear customs in T8 with all passengers, both US and non-US. Your boarding pass for your connecting flight should be issued when you depart helsinki. You will be required to check-in for your connecting flight and re-clear security (not customs) in T8. the terminal is set up very efficiently. waiting to clear immigration will be your longest wait. the rest is cake. Safe travels!

Hi

Just a quick question-I cant seem to find the information on this website. We will be arriving at JFK T4 next weekend and need to get to T8 for an AA flight to Canada. What is the best way Air Train? and also is there a general Transit area or would we have to go through customs as we are not staying in the US?Thanks

Take an air train on track 1 from terminal 4 to terminal 8. Every passenger arriving from international flight and that seems to be in your case has to clear Immigration and Customs even if transiting through the U.S.

the ONLY way to get from T4 to T8 other than an airport bus is the airtrain, which is free inside the airport. in T4 the station is located "within" the terminal building, after customs. everyone who enters the US from another country must clear immigration and customs. The ride from T4 to T8 should be less than 5 minutes. Arrival time at your departure gate in T8 is probably around 30 minutes including check-in and security. provided your flight is not at one of the busiest times morning or late afternoon, you should find all transitions smooth, although there is probably about .75km of walking involved, all told.

going to JKF by air train. as soon as I get at terminal 8 is it easy to find the International ARRIVAL Gate?
