Hey everyone. I am flying from Europe to US on 21 August. My flight arrives at 12 pm in JFK. My connecting flight is at 4:30 pm.
I am not a US citizen and those are two separate flight.
Since I have little experience with JFK and int-domestic flight, I have a question. Is 4,5 hours enough to get through the customs, check my bags in, get my boarding pass and make ti to the other flight?

Connecting flights
I'm arriving at JFK on 20th Aug at 12:10 Terminal 8 on AA1635. Planning to get tickets to Lima via Mia on AA 1775 departing at 3:40 pm. As they are separate tickets, do I need to clear customs and check in all over again? Is there enough time for me to make the flight?
You have more than enough
You have more than enough time. If your first flight is international you will need to clear both Immigration and Customs, furthermore, if you have 2 separate tickets but on the same airlines you may ask for your bags to be checked all the way through.

You have plenty of time for
You have plenty of time for a connecting flight. Customs Immigration and rechecking for your second flight may take you up to an hour and that still leaves you with some extra time.

Hello!
Does anybody know if JFK's Duty Free shops (in terminal 8) sell Sensai's cosmetics? I'm coming there on saturday from Helsinki, and continuing to SFO. If any of the shops doesn't sell Sensai, I'll buy all I need fom Helsinki, otherwise I think it would be easier to buy everything from JFK.

I am meeting relatives at
I am meeting relatives at Term 8 arriving from Helsinki at 3:30pm. they then need to catch a flight to LAX at 9:00 pm with American Air also Term 8. I am planning to meet them outside of customs area. How long do you think it will take them to go through customs this time of day?
Also, I would like to get them something to eat outside of security, before they check in for the LAX flight, as I will not be traveling with them. Any suggestions inside the terminal or if I have to drive, something close by? Thanks
For best choice go to
For best choice go to terminal 4 food courts pre security. Use an air train from t8 to t4 on track 2 and then track 1 to go back to terminal 8. At that time of the day Customs may take up to an hour.
