I lost my phone on the 1st of october at terminal 31 around 5:30pm just before entering the Americain Airline flight to Paris. My phone is a Xiaomi-Redmi, dark blue with a yellow case. I've filled every possible forms and everyone replied to me it hasn't be found yet. I know someone working at the airport entered the plane with my phone to ask if anyone had lost it. The crew said it to me. But there was no announcement on speakers and the person never reached the back of the plane where I was sitting. The crew couldn't give me more information. Should i fill the form for stolen items or should i wait a little longer?

My family of 5 including me will arrive at JFK in terminal about 11pm at night, and our connecting flight doesnt depart until 6-30am the next day. We have a couple of kids and a special needs adult with us and need some where to rest at the Airport. It would be best that we dont go to a hotel as we won't be there long at all and need advice what to do. Thanks.
