History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

Cheapest is by train: take
Cheapest is by train: take Newark Airport AirTrain from terminal to Newark Airport rail station, take NJ Transit train to Penn Station, transfer to LIRR to Jamaica, transfer to JFK AirTrain to all terminals. JFK AirTrain is $5, LIRR is around $8 depending on time of day and NJ Transit is around $15 which includes the Newark AirTrain fare. Also State Shuttle offers shuttle bus service between airports for around $35.

Hi, am travelling to IAD and
Hi, am travelling to IAD and have an 11hr stopover at JFK airport. Was wondering if I would be able to leave the airport without too much hassle from immigration etc? I'm a Malaysian passport holder, but have a valid B1 visa.
My Daughter
My Daughter Jordyn Clark left Pearson Int'l in Toronto last nite to JFK on AA 3286 which was delayed til after 9 pm. She had a connecting flight with LAN #5031 at 11:15 last nite. Obviously she missed it. AA, LAN, Pearson Int'l nor JFK can get me any info on what is happening to her, where she is etc due to security. Obviously her security is of no importance to anyone but me and I don't count. I wanted to contact yourselves to have her paged but your system is a joke and this cannot happen. Can you please contact her and have her send me an email asap. I believe she is there and has booked into LAN Airlines but they cannot confirm anything. There is another flight to Lima tonite at 11:15 pm but I have no idea if she will be on it.

I didn't get a checked Bag

I took a Delta fly (July 15th, 1H00 PM)from Raleigh,RDU airport to JFK then a Royal Air Morocco fly from JFK to Casablanca in Morocco (July 15th, 6H45 PM). At RDU, I checked-IN with my family 4 bags to the ou final destintion "Casablanca" so we don't need to grab them in JFK airport. When we arrived in casablanca (July 16th, 7h30 AM), we found just 3 out of the 4 checked-IN bags in CMN Airport. We claimed the bag to the airline company and they gave us a Ref for the "World Tracer" tool and they asked us to chheck for the status of the lost bag. Till now, there is no update and we're still waiting for news. I checked also in the Delta website usin the lost bag reference and it has the same status that it has arrived to JFK. Is there any mean (System)to check the bag status in JFK airport?

Connecting flights
Hi, I'm flying on AA from London to Norfolk VA, connecting at JFK. All I think is in terminal 8. Do I have to collect my bags and check in again?
Also i land at 13.40 and fly again at 17.00 with american eagle. Do i have enough time? Thanks

Your time frame is good, however, American Eagle and American Airlines dont have a luggage agreement so you will have to pick up your luggage and check it with American Eagle for your second flight.

I am scheduled to arrive at JKF on July 30, 2011 at 6:00 am by Air India and am scheduled to board Delta Airlines flight to Portland, Oregon, at 3:40 pm the same day. Where do I rest/stay inside the JKF during this time?

I have a very close connection to make from terminal 8 to terminal 5. What's the best way to get from one to the other, and how long do you think that even the best way will take?

From terminal 8 take an air
From terminal 8 take an air train on track 2 to terminal 5. That is the easiest way to make it with one minute trip.
