JFK Airport Parking Information
You can use two different types of parking at JFK airport:
Long-Term JFK Airport Parking
Located at Lefferts Blvd, 4 miles from CTA
AirTrain services link parking with the terminals.
Parking rates
$18 for up to 24 hours
$6 for each 8-hour period over first 24 hours
Daily JFK Airport Parking
Green parking - Terminals 1,2,3
Blue parking - Terminal 4
Yellow parking - Terminals 5 & 6
Orange parking - Terminal 7
Red - Terminals 8 & 9
Parking rates
$3 for the first half hour
$6 for up to 1 hour
$3 for each additional half hour, up to $33 maximum each 24-hour period

I have done the airtrain to Jet blue so leave yourself a good 10 minutes to walk from the train to jet blue check-in.
AirTrain will take about ten
AirTrain will take about ten minutes. LTP is near Lefferts Blvd. Take AirTrain from Lefferts Blvd. to terminals. On return take AirTrain marked to Howard Beach.
Short Parking Security
How secure is short term parking? Think about using short term at terminal 8. Will be away for 3 days.

long-term parking for jet blue flight
If I need long-term parking for a Jet Blue flight, do I park in the Jet Blue parking lot or have to go out to the long-term parking lot used by all the other airlines? In other words, if I stay in the Jet Blue parking lot, do I have to pay the $33 per day price as in other short-term lots?

Short term parking across from the Jet Blue terminal is $33 per day. Long term parking ($18 per day) is located on airport grounds near Lefferts Blvd. You can take AirTrain from there to/from terminals at no charge.

What do they consider long term? I am leaving for 4 days.
There's really no definition
There's really no definition other than short term is across from the terminal and long term is on the outer grounds of the airport. You can park in either location for 4 days, the main difference is cost and accessibility to terminals. Short term parking is generally a walk across the roadway to the terminal whereas long term parking requires a trip on AirTrain and then a walk to the parking area.
