I had most terrible experience at customs/immigrations area around 9pm Oct 9 2012. The custom/immigrations area was so crowded as usual since two or more international flights were arrived at the same time and the roomful passengers were already queing. Almost one hour later we, party of three including my kid daughter could stand in front of the booth where the officer was in there. In the procedure of custom thing with the former passenger, the officer took him to somewhere in the back office and has gone for a while, maybe 10 more minutes. I looked around and found the sevice person who helped to process the passenger in line and asked for my family including my kid to move another booth. He was so rude to say"You are not waiting that long. I was watching you." and with threatening voice he shouted "Back to your line and you three make ONE line" I said, "we are family" but he kept shouting in front of my kid "MAKE ONE LINE!" Did he think we were in the military training or deportee camp and he were the superior? How rude and humiliating!!! As long as this kind of service not being corrected, JFK still be the number 1 in the intl' passengers avoiding airport list. Arriving on Friday from abroad on Terminal 4, and have short time to reach Terminal 7 before new flight from there.

Never been to JFK before, so I need some best-practice guidance.

After arriving - luggage - and immigration from Terminal 4, what is best to do to reach Terminal 7, and how long time is estimated it all take on a Friday mid day??

(A)

After clearing customs/immigration go to the 3rd floor of T4 and take AirTrain on track 1 to T7. Allow at least one hour (more is best) for customs, only takes a few minutes on AirTrain between terminals.

My minor kids are traveling along with my uncle from Hyderabad - new Delhi to Toronto via JFK on 21st sept 2012. Please let me know if they need to go through immigration and baggage claim at JFK before boarding American airlines flight. As they are first time travelers and my uncle opted for wheelchair assistance will there be anyone to help them.

Bad idea to transit thru JFK

Yes they will have to do immigration and baggage clearence in US then will check in for Torinto flight again

Yes somebody will be there to assist him if he requested wheel chair assistance

Normally it should be fine but we will flight on July 7th (Saturday) and I guess the airport will be full that day. Thanks
