customs and connecting flights
We will be flying into JFK from Cairo and Egypt air and need to connect with a Jet Blue flight to Tampa. Do we have to get our luggage and go through customs and recheck our baggage? How much time do we need to allow between flights? Thanks
JFK is the international
JFK is the international entrance for your trip and you must collect luggage and go through customs and take your luggage to the airline baggage area once more for the flight to florida. I know this because when I returned from abroad I arrived in JFK and had to get my luggage and take it through customs and drag it to the airline baggage drop off so it would get to my final destination. I had not been told this prior so it was very inconvienient as I was ill and had 2 very small children by myself during the journey.make sure you have a 5$ and 10$ bill and two 1$ bills (US) if you have a lot of luggage so you can rent the luggage cart, interewstingly no one has change that works there.

i have booked 2 seperate flights, one incoming from bermuda to JFK arriving @ 959am with AA and the next leaving @ 1110am from Air Mexicana. does anyone know which air terminal i have to go to and how i deal with re checking in? i have booked these two flights seperate and am concerned about transfering luggage and ourselves to the second flight.

transfer through JFK
We are arriving with my family on flight BA177 from LHR at 16:15 and transferring to Delta1819 to Orlando at 20:30. The flights are on one ticket. Theoretically i could check our luggage straight through. Question which terminal is BA on and which one is Delta on? Do i have to pick up our luggage and then check in again? How do i get from one terminal to the other?
Can I leave the airport between connecting flights?
I arrive at JFK at 8pm and my connecting flight is 5.45am the next day. Can I leave the airport to stay in a hotel or am I forced to stay in the terminal?

I had the same situation last year. You actually can't go to your gate for your morning flight until that morning, so I would recommend finding a hotel. JFK is kind of far from the city, so be sure to allot plenty of time to get back though.
I traveled with mom from YYZ
I traveled with mom from YYZ to JFK because she was sick. at JFK the plan was to meet my brother who flew in at the same time to meet mom so as to take care of her on their way terminal 4 to fly home. We requested for special services for mom (wheelchair). When we arrived to JFK i had to assist mom to get off the plane and walk with her toward the wheelchair which was parked inside the tunnel and not by the plane stairs. We were OK with that, mom went on the wheelchair, the lady pushed her and instead of telling us, in a nice way, where to go she started yelling at us as if we were the experts. I explained everything to this lady about the meeting with my brother and how important that is for us. So instead of helping us she rushed us out of the airport saying that the taxi will arrive soon and if mom misses it, the next one will take forever to come. So she pushed mom outside terminal 3 leaving her at the sidewalk, and instead of waiting with us, she went inside to keep herself warm and left mom outside in the cold with no supervision. then we waited for this taxi for at least one hour, I told her that i wanted to go see my brother. I went but came back coz the security did not allow me to go inside again. When i got there I found this lady yelling at mom, when i wanted to interfere, she told me to " Hush" which was so insulting. i told her to give me her name to put a complain in she refused. then she started talking to her friend about us which was not appropriate at all. That wasn't acceptable at all, it had been a very bad and painful experience for both my mom and myself.
i appreciate if you can address this issue.

we are traveling nov. 27th on jet blue airways from portland maine to JFK airport could you tell me which terminal we will be getting off and which terminal we will need to reboard. we have about a 1/2 hour lay over. if there is a map could you please send it to me.

Jet Blue has its own
Jet Blue has its own terminal now. I believe it's terminal 5. You don't need to switch terminals.
Outside of the AA terminal
Outside of the AA terminal there will be a bus that will take you to terminal 1. The bus runs every few minutes so you will not have any problems getting from one terminal to the other.

I'll be arriving at JFK at 11:05 by AA4740 on 22, and will transfer to CA982 of 15:30. Please tell me which terminal should I go for CA982(airchina),and how to get there?
