JFK - Penn Station - Travel time
I'm landing in JFK at 17:15 (April 2012) and looking at getting from there to Penn Station for a train to New Haven. I am planning (ambitiously I expect) to get to Penn Station for a 6:43 train. Given luggage, and peak hour I was planning on getting a cab from JFK.
Is that even remotely possible or am I better off waiting for the 7:40 train to New Haven - even if it does mean getting there fairly late.

From JFK to NEw Haven
Hi, don't go to Penn Station if you need to get to NEw Haven. It is more convenient to take the Metro North train from Grand Central station in NYC. There is a shuttle bus from JFK that will take you to Grand central station, and trains are departing almost every 15 minutes since you are arriving during the rush hour. Hope this helps.

I arrive JFK 7:15 PM according to flight schedule. I want to catch the greyhound bus at 8:20PM at Penn Station. Is that possible? Assuming I only have carry-on and will rush my way out.
No way if you need to clear
No way if you need to clear customs on arrival. If not, you arrive on time and time the train connections exactly right (AirTrain on track 1 from terminal to Jamaica Station, transfer to LIRR to Penn Station...subway will take much longer) you could make it in 45 minutes. Taxi could take 45 minutes to one hour or more depending on traffic.
