John F. Kennedy International Airport is an international airport located in Jamaica, Queens, southeast of New York City.
IATA code - JFK
ICAO code - KJFK
Operated by - The airport has been operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey under a lease with New York City since 1947.

History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

re:Can my husband assist me to the gate???
Speak to the Airline supervisor/rep once you at the check-in counter. Some of the airlines issue temporary passes for that purpose.

international layover
I'm arriving from Casablanca on Royal Air Maroc and will be connecting to a Delta flight to San Diego. Is a 2:15 layover enough time to make it? Is there anything I can do to expedite this transfer (cab from one terminal to the other, etc)?
Thanks!
re: I'm arriving from Casablanca on Royal Air Maroc
The time gap is enough for you to make the transfer - just go outside Terminal 1 and walk to your right; in 5 minutes you will be at Terminal 2 - that is Delta building.

Transfer planes in JFK
In August, our family will take Swiss International Air from Europe to JFK arriving Terminal 4 at 2:50PM. We would like to take Jet Blue in Terminal 5 to Syracuse New York at 4:45PM.
Is 1h55min enough time for Immigration/custom check (we are US citizens) and to leave Terminal 4 to go to Terminal 5 for security check/luggage check in (Swiss Air and Jet Blue are not partner) before catching Jet Blue 4:45PM flight?
Is there any way to avoid security check again to save time?
Should we walk from Terminal 4 to 5, or should we take Air Train?
Is there any better way to make this possible?
Thank you
re:In August, our family will take Swiss International Air from
That time frame should be enough as long as Swiss is on time.
There is no way to avoid security check at T5 - you have to pass it again.
Walking or taking the Airtrain - I would say is the same time wise.

How can I get from JFK to
How can I get from JFK to Chrystie Street? Is taxi the only option?
re:How can I get from JFK to Chrystie Street?
You do have more options:
-By public transportation:
Take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Jamaica Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the red colored sign is Jamaica one). Then take subway line Z to Bowery stop (total fare - $7.25)
Christye Street is a block away going east on Delancey street.
-By shuttle:
There is door-to-door service from JFK to ANY address in Manhattan. It is a shuttle. The passengers book the shuttle after arriving and picking up their bags.
It takes around 20-30min for the driver to arrive at the terminal. The service is shared(the vans are 10-12 seats). It costs $18.50-$25 per passenger paid by credit card or cash.
-By taxi:
Go in front of the terminal an look for the yellow taxi stand. An uniformed dispatcher will assist you taking a cab. The yellow cab ride to any point in Manhattan costs flat fare of $45 plus $5.00 bridge toll plus $0.50 surcharge. This price is for the whole taxi(NOT per passenger).

We are not familiar with
We are not familiar with driving around the city and will have a rental car at our hotel in Secaucus, NJ. We fly out JetBlue at 2:30 p.m. and would like to know when we'd need to leave 350 Lighting Way in Secaucus to get to JFK, and if you would advise us driving our rental there, or taking a taxi, etc. Is it hard to navigate getting to JFK if we're unfamiliar?
Thanks. I really appreciate your time.
re:We are not familiar with driving around the city
If you are not familiar with driving in the city I will suggest you to take a taxi(if that is another option you consider).
