JFK International Airport AirTrain
AirTrain JFK is the train service that operates between JFK
International Airport, Long Island Rail Road trains and New York City Subway.
It also serves as an on-airport service connecting the airline terminals, rental
car facilities, hotel shuttles, and airport parking lots.
Air Train JFK has
3 routes:
- Howard Beach route
The Howard Beach route ends at the Howard Beach-JFK subway station. It stops
at Lefferts Boulevard (connecting transit services - B15 bus) for shuttle buses
to long term parking lots A and B and to airport employee parking.
Connecting transit services: A subway train, Q11 bus
- Jamaica Station route
The Jamaica route ends at Jamaica Station on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR)
next to the Sutphin Boulevard/Archer Avenue-JFK subway station (to Brooklyn
and Manhattan or Queens).
Connecting transit services: E, J and Z subway
trains, Q6, Q8, Q9, Q20A, Q20B, Q25/Q34, Q30, Q31, Q40, Q43, Q44, Q60 and

Both routes make a counterclockwise loop through the airport and stop at each
terminal.
- Airline Terminal route
The Airline Terminal route connects 6 terminal stations (Terminal 1, 2-3,
4, 5-6, 7 and 8-9). Route operates in the opposite direction, making a clockwise
loop.
All JFK AirTrain stations are wheelchair accessible. Howard Beach subway and
Jamaica Long Island Railroad stations are wheelchair accessible too.

Brooklyn is a very big
Brooklyn is a very big place. Tell us where in Brooklyn you want to go, and we can better assist you.
I need to get from terminal
I need to get from terminal 3 to Lefferts Blvd on Liberty ave. I assume the route would be - Airtrain to Howard beach - A train up to Rockaway blvd, then change to Lefferts blvd branch. Is this correct?
Taking the Q10 (or Q10
Taking the Q10 (or Q10 Limited) bus from Terminal 4 -- as suggested by B2G -- will not only be cheaper than the AirTrain/subway combination, but it will almost certainly be faster. From Terminal 4 to Lefferts and Liberty, the trip time is about 25 minutes, and the buses run frequently. You can get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4 for free by riding a Jamaica- or Howard Beach-bound AirTrain one stop. (There is no charge for AirTrain travel wholly within the airport.)

Astoria is in Queens, New York.
The questions was not,
The questions was not, "Where *is* Astoria?"; the question was, "Where *in* Astoria?" In order to give the best directions, one needs to know what part of Astoria the inquiring poster is headed to. ;)

JFK to 121 West 28th street
Hi there. arriving at JFK on Thursday morning. What would be the correct train connections from JFK to final destination (121 West 28th street - zip 10001)?
Thank you in advance
AirTrain to Jamaica Station.
AirTrain to Jamaica Station. Then, Manhattan-bound "E" subway to Queens Plaza station. Transfer to a Manhattan-bound "R" subway (on the adjacent local track). Take the "R" to 28th Street/Broadway station. Walk west on 28th Street to your destination, which should be just a block or two away from the subway station.
Note: If getting a seat on the "R" train is important to you, then consider transferring to the "R" at Continental Avenue/Forest Hills station, instead of at Queens Plaza. This can add about 15 minutes to your travel time since the "R" runs local and the "E" runs express, but since the "R" begins its run at Continental Avenue, you are virtually guaranteed getting a seat if you make the transfer there.
You should be able to obtain a free subway map at the Ground Transportation/Information desk in your terminal at JFK, or at the subway booth at Jamaica, just before you pass through the turnstiles. And at 28th Street station in Manhattan, the subway booth attendant should be able to provide you with a free Manhattan bus map.
