Can you please tell me the most convenient way to get the Shelton CT from JFK. We arrive Thursday June 10th 2010 around 4.30pm. We are happy to travel by train or bus as long as it is easy (buses/trains located at the airport). Please advise on probable costs for 2 adults.

There are two shuttles leaving JFK and going to Shelton,CT:
-Connecticut Limo ; they stop at major hotels in Shelton; the price is ~$75/person.
-Prime Time; they go door-to-door and the price is ~$78/person.
Both can be reserved at Ground Transportation(Welcome Center) counter upon arriving.

Public transportation is another way, cheaper even though with a lot of transfers(Airtrain to Jamaica Station -> subway E to Lexington -> subway 6 to Grand Central->Metro North train to New Haven-> bus to Shelton;price~$25/person)

Hi,

I would be coming to NY from Portland, Maine on the 6th of May by Bus and need to go to JFK Plaza Hotel near JFK Airport, Jamaica, NY. We will be 3 of us (me and my parents). Need to know
1. What will be the best option for me to travel to the Hotel and how much will it cost per passenger?
2. Our flight to India is next day on the 7th at night. Our hotel has a shuttle. But do Airtrains in NY cost for commute?
3. I have an Air India flight. How will I get to the desired terminal from where the Hotel Shuttle drops me.

Thanks

1.I assume you will be arriving at Port Authority bus station on 42nd street in Manhattan. From there take subway line E towards Jamaica,Queens and get off at Sutphin Blvd stop. Then take Airtrain to the next stop - Federal Circle. All hotels' shuttles pick up/drop off there.
2. From Federal Circle to the terminals Airtrain is free.
3. The hotel shuttle will drop you at Federal Circle Airtrain Station. Take ANY train on the third floor and get off at Terminal 4 - that is where Air India is.

Last time that I travelling the USA, I'm landed at JFK and take shuttle van (4 peoples, we don't know each other) to Holiday Inn at Philadelphia but can't remember the company name of service. This time I will landing at JFK again (because ticket is cheaper that other destination), Could you recommend about shuttle van from JFK to hotel in DC?. Thanks indeed.

Unfortunately you'll need to take bus, train or plane to DC from JFK. There are flights to the two DC area airports from JFK on most major airlines. For train you'll need to get to Penn Station for Amtrak to DC (Airtrain to Jamaica Station and E subway or LIRR to Penn Station) or there are a few different bus lines to DC. Most leave from Port Authority Bus Terminal (E subway to 42nd St.).

You probably took Dave's Best Limo Shuttle(which goes door-to-door in Philly). Unfortunately there is no such a service from JFK to DC.

Can you please advice some alternatives from JFK to Elmsford,NY area (zip code is 10523)? I will have 2 baggages, 1 laptop case and 1 small case. I will land on 05/01/2010 at 2.50pm. Thanks

Besides the public transportation(Greyhound bus and Metro-North train out of Manhattan) there are two more shuttles that go door-to-door from JFK to Elmsford,NY:
-Westchester Express - $53/person;
-All County Express - $49/person.
Both can be reserved at Ground Transportation(Welcome Center) counter upon arriving.

I'm going to Newark in October, but am flying into JFK bc the flights are cheaper. How do I get to Newark from JFK on public transportation? I tried the Supershuttle site, but evidently their quote system isn't set up to service Newark?

The shuttle is State Shuttle.Book it at Ground Transportation(Welcome Center) counter as you arrive. The shuttle leaves every hour and costs $30/passenger.

The most economic way is to take public transportation.
Take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Jamaica Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the red colored sign is Jamaica one). Then take subway line E to 42nd street stop. At Port Authority Bus Terminal take NJ Transit bus to Newark Airport. Total cost:
$5.00(Airtrain)+$2.25(Subway)+ $5.75(NT transit bus)=$13

Is there a shuttle service between JFK and Laguardia airport? Thanks for your help.

Yes, NYAS(New York Airport Service) bus will take you there for $13/passenger. It leaves in front of every terminal at JFK every 30 min.Hours of operation - 6am-8pm.
For two people or more is worth it to take yellow cab - charge is on the meter - aprox.$28-$33.

How can I go from JFK to my hotel near Times Square? Fast, easy and sure? And cheap? :)

It is not easy to satisfy all those requirements:)
Here are some of most common options that you have in this case:

1. Taxi(the fast and easy one)
Yellow cab (from JFK to any point to Manhattan) costs flat rate of $45 + bridge toll($5.50). The price is for the whole taxi, not per passenger.

2. Public(the cheap one)
Take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Jamaica Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the red colored sign is Jamaica one). Then take subway line E to 42nd street stop. Cost-$7.25/passenger.

3. Shuttle
There is shuttle(look for it at Ground transportation
counter or Welcome Center) that goes to any hotel in Manhattan for $18.50 per person.

4. Express Bus
NYAS(New York Airport Service) bus will take you express to Times Square for $15/passenger. The bus leaves every 20 min in front of each JFK terminal. You can buy tickets on the bus or from their representative in front of the terminal.
