Hi

I Arrive at JFK on 18th 12 Noon on Jet Airways flight and connecting to Bogota through Avianca which is at midnight the same day.
After i clear customs and claim my baggage , will I be able to check in my baggage at the Avianca counter immediately or will the counter be opened only some hours before the flight.
If the counter will be opened only some hours before the flight , is there a paid lounge where I can stay till the counter opens for me to check in.
Regards

Avianca opens their check-in counters 3-4 hours before the flight departs. There are lounges at Terminal 4(where Avianca is)where you can stay($30-$50).

I'm arriving at JFK on Swiss (Terminal 4) on a Monday at 3:50pm.
I have a connecting flight on American Eagle (Terminal 8) to Pittsburgh at 5:05pm.

I'm worried that I won't make it with customs, having to check in my bags at the American counter, and security.

I bought the two tickets separately, is there a way to inform the airlines that I have a connecting flight so I can exit the plane sooner, and so that American knows I will be arriving later?

I haven't found that I can check my bags through, does anyone know if I can?

Will I have enough time?

This time period is very short(not to say impossible).
By the time you clear immigration and customs at T4 it would be 4:20pm-4:30pm;another 10 minutes to get to AA terminals. I don't think AA will have the check-in process open till 4:30-4:40 for 5:05 flight.
Since you book the flights separately there is no way to transfer the bags automatically.
Also , there is no practice to inform airlines for such situations.
Try to change your flight to Pittsburgh with a later one(I see that Delta has one at 8:30pm).

I looked at the Delta flight- unfortunately, it's currently at a prime cost of $853 for the 24th, the day I'm flying. I would make hotel arrangements myself before I would pay that for a two hour flight.

I was wondering, after customs is there an area to check-in your bags before the check in terminals? (Something similar to the process at Newark), if so, how would I go about paying for my baggage fees?

I suppose I'll either take my chances with the short connection, or try to figure out a hotel then flight in the morning.

Thank you!

You mean - baggage storage? There is a such a facility at T4(next to hotel reservation desk) which is 24 hours open.

Help please. My friend and I are arriving from London Heathrow on 26th July. we are on the same flight but I'm travelling buisness class (30th birthdya treat) and he is in cattle class (late addition to the trip). How could we meet up? Is there somewhere sensible to converge on?

OMG- what a question duh. Just wait for him when you get off the plane or stay in your seat until you see him getting off and then get of with him.. Seriously- haven't you ever flown before...

You can meet each other in the immigration hall - all the passengers(including the cattle:) from the flight are there after disembarking the flight.

Hi,

We will be arriving on July, friday the 16th, with Aer Lingus from Dublin at 7.10 pm. I think that will be Terminal 4, is that correct?

We have an other flight to Las Vegas with Delta Airlines at 8.59 pm. I think it will be at terminal 3, is that right?

Do we have enough time if no delays from the first flight to: leave the plane + immigration + take back our luggage + customs + change of terminal + check-in again ?

Do you have any advise to make sure we will be able to make it? What would be the maximum delay of the first flight for us not to miss the one to LAS? Is there any service to make our luggage following from the first company to the other withaout having to claim it while this is 2 seperate flights (not bought as multi-spots)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

The time window is very small. Since you have the both flights on two separate tickets that will make your task even harder. You won't be able to transfer automatically your bags. Hope that the flight from Dublin won't be late( not even a minute!).
As soon as you clear customs head for the third floor of T4 and take Airtrain on track 2 for one stop - T3,Delta terminal. It is only couple of minutes from terminal to terminal. Bear in mind that Delta(and any airline in general) closes check-in process aprox. 1 hour prior to departure time.

what is the estimated departure time of delayed flight lx 17 to zurich (original 6pm on 9 May)? is there a reason for the delay? Any chance it is waiting for transit passengers on codeshare flights delayed in their arrival at JFK due to the strong winds? Thanks!
