I'm arriving tomorrow with mother-in-law and daughter in tow. Ultimate destination is Omnni Berkshire, and I see I can taxi from Grand Central. Is the airtrain a good option to Grand Central? Or should I stick to a taxi, which seems easier?

If you have luggage I will suggest you taxi. It is flat $50.50 +tip to any point in the city for the whole cab.
Airtrain to Jamaica + subway E to Lexington is another option. The hotel is 2 blocks away from Lexington/53rd street stop.

Hello. I am planning to arrive to JFK, terminal 4 on Saturday, June 12 via Aerosvit Airlines. I would like to know what it will be the best way to go to Penn Station and how much it will cost. Thanks in advance.

its the best to take the airtrain to jamaica which is $5 and then take the lirr (long island railroad) straight to penn station which is about another $5.a cab would be $55 incl. tax&fees.have a good trip

Also can you tell where we can buy tickets?

You buy the Airtrain tickets as you exit the Airtrain system(at Jamaica station). Subway and LIRR tickets can be purchase at the same station as well.

- Post as not registered user. In this case your post will show up delayed/up to couple of hours/.
If you post as not registered (not verified) user come back in couple of hours to see and verify that the post is there.

Also, it is very good idea to research the web site before you post a question – may be the problem has been discussed before. To do that use google.com:
Put in google.com
keywords site: www.jfk-airport.net .
For example if you looking for public transportation to Times Square, this is what you will put in Google:
Public transportation Times Square site: www.jfk-airport.net

Try not to post urgent questions – there is nobody standing by and answering questions as they come.
And again, this web site is not affiliated with Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the company that manages JFK Airport.
The website is simply a tool that helps people with experience to share it with people that need it.

Can I get to Columbus circle through Howard beach (line A) easier than through Jamaica Station (line E)?

Line A is easier , because you don't have to transfer.

1. Please confirm AirTrain is free between terminals and runs 24 hours a day.

2. Does each terminal have its own bagagge claim?

3. Advise if we are permitted to check baggage 8 hours prior to flight departure.

1. Yes , CONFIRMED!
2. Yes, even some terminals have more than one.
3. It depends on the airline- check with them.
