How does the airtrain work?
How does the airtrain work? Last time I used it I ended up at Jamaica station. How do you know where it is going next and when to get on?
re:How does the airtrain work?
Airtrain has three branches:
1. Terminals train :
-it is always on track 2;
-it never leaves the Airport;
-it is free;
-it loops between the terminals clockwise - T8->T7->....->T1->T8->....
2. Jamaica branch
- it is always on track 1
- it is free , unless you decide to exit/enter the system at Jamaica station($5)
- once at the terminals area it moves counterclockwise - T1->T2/3->....T8->FC->JA
3. Howard Beach branch
- it is always on track 1
- it is free , unless you decide to exit/enter the system at Howard Beach station($5)
- once at the terminals area it moves counterclockwise - T1->T2/3->....T8->FC->LB->HB
- it is widely used to go to/from long term parking
Both Jamaica and Howard Beach trains are alternating on track 2. There is a visual signage as well as voice announcements of which train is at the platform.
See the Airtrain map for details:

need a lil help!
Hi, i'm travelling with my parents. We come From American Airlines from Seattle Tacoma in transit to Doha on Qatar airlines. I reach JKF terminal 8 at 4:30 PM and my next flight is at 11:50 PM from Terminal 4. Is it possible for me to come out of the airport and have a quick sightseeing visit to Manhattan? how?
re; travelling with my parents. We come From American Airlines f
You will be able to do that. Take a taxi - it will take you an hour in each direction and costs flat fare of $50.50 each way.
Be back at least 1.5-2 hours prior to departure time.

long term parking
What is the most convenient long term parking?
With JFK's long term parking, would I park, then hop on a shuttle bus to the lefferts station to get on the airtrain to my terminal?
Do the "private" long term parking lots just shuttle you directly to the terminals with their buses?
re: long term parking lot
The "private" ones offer a courtesy shuttle to and from terminals.

travel to hotel
hi, i'll be landing in JFK airport and want to travel to: W The Tuscany Hotel, 120 east 39th street new york, ny 10016, New York (NY), what will be the cheapest/quickest way to travel there from the airport please?
re:The Tuscany Hotel ,
Here are the three most common ways to get there:
1.Yellow cab (from JFK to any point to Manhattan) costs flat fare of $45 + bridge toll($5.50)
2. Using public Transportation
Take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Jamaica Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the red colored sign is Jamaica one). Then take subway line E to Lexington Ave stop and transfer to subway line 6 going towards downtown. Get off at Grand Central stop.Cost-$7.25.
The hotel is 3 blocks away walking south on Park Ave and make right at the intersection with E39th street.
3. Shuttle
There is shuttle(look for it at Ground transportation counter or Welcome Center) that goes to the hotel for $18.50 per person.
