Yes, no need to clear security again. Hope the AA 160 is not late.
transit through JFK with stroller and hand luggage or normal lug
hello!
we are flying from bogota with avianca (terminal 4?), transiting through JFK to go to washington dc with delta airlines (terminal 3?) with exactly three hours between landing and take-off, if all is on time. we are uncertain as to what the transit procedures are and would appreciate some step-by-step guidance, including transport between terminals.
we heard that if we had luggage, that we would have to pick up the luggage at JFK and then check it in again. pls explain this procedure.
we thought that it would be too much of a hassle and perhaps just travel with hand luggage. would that speed things up? would check-in procedures change?
however, we have a little toddler with us and would like to bring a stroller along. what are the stroller policies? if the stroller has to be checked in as luggage, should we just as well have normal luggage with us as we would have to wait at the luggage claim anyway if we have to pick up our luggage in transit?
also, i am pregnant. would that speed up the process for the whole family a little: less standing in line at check-in, security etc?
since we only have 3 hours between landing and take-off in NY, what would be the easiest solution considering our short transit time ?
1) take only hand luggage with stroller because stroller can be used in transit
2) take only hand luggage but check in stroller
3) take normal luggage and go through check-in
we are leaving in a few days and would greatly appreciate a quick reply.
thanks in advance and have a nice day.
re:flying from bogota with avianca (terminal 4?), transiting thr
Let's start from the moment you board the plane in Bogota. Since you have a stroller Avianca will let you check it in at the gate. And once you disembark the plane at JFK that stroller will be delivered to you right at the gate. After that you will clear the immigration, pick up your bags and clear US customs.
Right after that you will look for Connecting flight counter for Avianca - they will transfer your bags onto your next Delta flight. Do not check-in the stroller there since you will need it(Let them know that you have it though).
Go to the third floor of the terminal and then take Airtrain on track 2; get off next stop and follow the signs to Terminal 2. If you have a boarding pass issued by Avianca for your Delta flight then just go to the security check point; if not - have Delta people help you getting one. It is not bad idea to let them know that you will be checking a stroller at the gate(they will put a proper tag on it).
After you go through security , look for the monitors to see at which gate the Washington DC flight departs out of and follow the signs to that gate.
Three hours is plenty of time to do that.
Regarding your options to check bags - you can check them; dealing with it is pretty much only between the customs and connecting flights counter and they are very close.
Being pregnant will certainly help you to speed the process - just ask any uniformed employee for help and they will not refuse you.

Baggage Claim area
On Monday 19 July 2010 my wife and I are to be met by a representative of Cunard cruise Lines to board a shuttle that is to take us to the Queen Mary II. The shuttle is to meet us at the JFK baggage claim area. Since we are not flying into JFK I need to know if each terminal has a separate baggage claim area or is there one area for all terminals? If there is one baggager claim area in which terminal/area is it located. If there are many baggage claim areas which terminal number is the location for flights that arrive from Washington DC.
re:Baggage Claim area
Each terminal has its own baggage claim area. Some of them even more than one(domestic and international). To make the matter more confused - there are three airlines coming from Washington DC into JFK(United, Delta and American) with four possible terminals - T8,T7,T3 or T2.
My advice is - call Cunard Cruise Lines and ask them at which terminal their representative will meet you.
Worse comes to worse - if you end up at JFK without any info - go to the Ground transportation counter(Welcome Center) and ask the folks there to locate the Cunard reps. I have seen them sometimes doing that.

JFK arrival
Hi, my mom is flying in from Moscow to JFK and then to Seattle by Delta. She is going to have only 2 hours between flights. I was wondering if it is enough time for her to go through all the customs and migration services and catch her Seattle flight. Thank you.
re:JFK arrival
Yes, that is plenty of time - she does not need to change terminals since both flight are on Delta.

T2/3 to T7 with bags & having checked in- 2 hours enough time?
I am arriving from Detroit at 17:30 on Delta 3236 (T2/3), and catching a 19:35 flight to London on British Airways 176 (T7), so need to pick up bags from Delta, go to T7 and drop them off with BA, but will have checked in online. Is 2 hours enough time? Thanks, Peter
re: arriving from Detroit at 17:30 on Delta 3236 (T2/3
Two hours is enough. Why is Delta not checking your bags through? So you don't have to deal with them at JFK....

Thanks - learn something new
Thanks - learn something new every day; that would make life a lot easier. I thought it was impossible to check bags through when it meant changing carriers that weren't partners (e.g. AA/BA).
