You have to collect your bags in order to pass US customs inspection.
Lounges are open generally(it depends on what time of the day/night).

Hi. my sister and baby nephew are arriving at JFK by American Airlines coming from Argentina, and she has to connect with Delta to get to Burlington VT. She speaks very little English and is concerned about what to do once she's gone through customs. Does she have to pick her bags and check them in at Delta? Which are the two terminals?
Could you help me out? I would like to give her the most accurate instructions so that she doesn't get lost.
Thank you very much for your time.
Veronica

She will be arriving at Terminal 8;going through immigration, pick up her bags and going through customs.
Then she can re-check her bags at AA connecting flights counter(located right after customs).
On the second floor of T8 she will follow the signs for the Airtrain and take Airtrain on track 2(only) to Terminal 3.

My wife is flying Delta to Tokyo in November from Atlanta through JFK and has only a 46 minute stop over at JFK. Can she check her bags in Atlanta and have them arrive in Tokyo without doing anything at JFK with them? Does she have to do any special international ticketing in JFK to go to Tokyo or can this all be done in Atlanta? Also, does she have to change terminals at JFK if all flights are Delta, and if so, does she have to go through security again or do anything else regarding the internation portion of her trip? The concern in only 46 minutes at JFK to change flights.

46 minutes in this case is enough(as long as ATL flight is on time). All she has to do at JFK is to look for the gate for her next flight. There is possibility for the two flights to be at different terminals - Delta provides shuttles between their terminals in that case.

I am flying Delta Air Lines Flight # 6498 from Toronto to JFK on 27 Jul arriving at Terminal 3 at 1335 Hours. I have American Airlines Connecting Flight # AA100 departing fron Terminal 8 for London Heathrow the same day at 1800 hours.

How can I carry my luggage between the two terminals?
Can the luggage trolley be used for this purpose?
Can the luggage be booked directly for London from Toronto since I am travelling on separate tickets bet ween the two segments?

Let Delta in Toronto know about your second flight(show them ticket or itinerary) and they will check your bags through. Delta and AA have baggage transfer agreement so it would not be a problem.
In case you have to carry the bags - you can use a luggage cart(it is allowed on the Airtrain).

I will be arriving into Terminal 4 on Emirates at 7:45 am and will be leaving for Boston at 11:10 am from Terminal 8 on American Airlines. After I have been through immigration and collected my bags from Terminal 4, where will I check in my luggage for the connecting flight? And exactly how do I get from Terminal 4 to Terminal 8? Thank you for your help.

There is connecting flights counters right after customs at T4 where you can re-check your bags. At T4 you can go up to the third floor and take Airtrain on any track to T8.

Hello, I will arrive from Bogota to JFK by Avianca on July 25th,2010, at 6am. Then I must take a JetBlue flight to Buffalo at 8am. I really appreciate if you could inform me: which is the current terminal for JetBlue flights -5 or 6?; Is enough two hours to take the Jetblue flight?, and Which is the easiest way to get from Terminal 4 to the Jetblue Terminal?. Thank you in advance

Jet Blue is located at Terminal 5. Easiest way to get there from T4 is to walk(5-10min walk). Two hours should be enough to transfer.

Coming in at 445p on Morac Airlines from Fez to JFK, trying to get to a united flight at 715 to SFO - enough time?

Plenty!

hi, I am flying into jfk with BA from london LHR. And my connecting flight is with AA to orlando MCO. and only have 3 hour's between flights. I have never done this before so what is the procedure and is 3 hour's enough. Regards simon.

Three hours is plenty of time.
You will be going through immigration, pick up the bags, go through customs, re-check your bags at BA connecting flights counter. Then you have to take Airtrain across the streets , on track 1 and get off next stop-T8.
There, you go through security and head for the gate for the flight to MCO.
