Easiest is taxi; $45+tolls+tip. By subway; take Airtrain from your terminal to Jamaica Station, take E subway to 42nd St. Follow signs to transfer to the #1 subway and take the uptown #1 to 66th St./Lincoln Center.
Customs in Terminal 3
My wife will be arriving from Moscow July 31. Flt 31..arrival gate 1. She has connecting flt to CVG Dep gate 11. Is this all in terminal 3 ? Also..where is customs ? Is it in termnial 3 or does she have to go to teminal 2 to clear?

If she flies on Delta - yes, both gates are at T3. Customs is also done at T3.

Leaving Terminal between flights
I am travelling bwack from Peru via JFK to Dublin & will have a 9 hrs wait between flights, will I have time to leave the airport & visit Manhattan?? If so which is the best way to get in & out of the city.

You do have time to do that . Taxi will be the fastest way to get in and out - it will cost you flat $50.50 and it will take 40-50 min in each direction.
Airtrain + LIRR(to Penn Station) or Airtrain + Subway(to Times Square) are the other options . Price is between $7.26 - $12; travel time is between 45min to 1:15min.
Don't forget that you have to be back at JFK at least 2 hours prior to your flight departure.

Why the delays????
The website says flights are delayed because of weather. My daughter is trying to get home to Chicago from NYC on Jet Blue on a flight that was supposed to leave at 8:45 pm tonight. Now it's delayed until 1 am! There is no bad weather between Chicago and New York! The only bad weather is around DC and it's not that bad! Even if some aircraft were delayed earlier in the day, delays should be decreasing, not increasing. Every time she looks, she's scheduled to leave later and later! What gives? Weather that occurred hours ago should not be causing a FOUR HOUR DELAY!!!!!!

Cheapest is by Airtrain/subway, a little over one hour ($7.25). Take Airtrain from terminal to Jamaica Station. Take the E subway to Jackson Hgts/Roosevelt Ave. and transfer to the F subway to 42nd St. Walk north two blocks to 44th St., hotel is between 5th & 6th Aves. on 44th. Taxi will cost flat rate of $45+tolls+tip and may be faster depending on traffic.

Hi, I am flying from LAX with Virgin America to JFK and must catch another flight with Aer Lingus to Ireland 2hrs later once I arrive at JFK. Does anyone know if VA have a baggage transfer agreement with Aer Lingus as I may not have time to go through customs and re-check in my luggage for the Aer Lingus flight? I believe bot are based in Terminal 4. Thank you.

I will be arriving in JFK on Aug 23, 12:15pm by jet airways in terminal 8 and have a connecting flight to philadelphia on delta from terminal 3 at 2:59pm. I understand that I have to clear customs & immigration at JFK and recheck in for my delta airlines flight. Can you tell me which terminal is the customs & immigration clearance to be done ? Where do i have to pick up my baggage once i deplane at jfk ? how long it takes to clear customs & immigration (i am on a student visa coming to US to attend grad school at UPenn)? Is the time gap sufficient for going thro' all these clearances ? Will jet airways or delta airlines help me in this excercise ? How do i commute between the terminals (say terminal 8 to terminal 3) ?

You will clear immigration and customs at T8, pick up the bags right after immigration. It takes between 30-50 min for whole immigration/customs procedure. The time gap that you have is plenty . Take Airtrain on track 2 from T8 to T3 - it is only 5-7 min free ride.
Double check with Jet Airways if they will check your bags through - in that case you can recheck them in at Jet Airways connecting flights counter(located right after customs) and avoid carrying them along the way to Delta terminal.

Come to ground transportation and ask for shuttle bus to EWR. They wil guide you. It costs around 20 to 25 bucks
transfer from T8 to T3
hi,
I will be arriving in JFK on aug 4, 12:15pm by jet airways in terminal 8. I have to take a connecting flight to philadelphia on delta from terminal 3 at 2:59pm. i was told by jet airways that my luggage would be transferred directly to delta and i would hav to collect it only in philadelphia. is this true ? where do i have to clear customs ? JFK or philadelphia ?

You will clear customs at JFK. You have to pick up your bags here, at JFK , in order to pass customs. Then recheck them at Jet Airways connecting flights counter(right after customs).
