thank you so much for this info. One more question. Is there a place where we can visit with people not flying during the layover of 4 hours? Not sure I'm being clear. Folks from NY want to spend time with daughter flying in from Detroit and going on to Senegal. Folks not flying, but want to go to airport to see daughter and grandchildren during the 4 hour layover. How can we do this?

Unfortunately the folks not flying cannot go to the gate area. Family would need to exit the gate area to meet up with the folks, then family would have to go through security to return to the gate area. When you arrive have your folks call family to tell them where they are and where to meet, such as in the check-in area or baggage claim, etc. Be sure family has IDs and boarding passes in order to clear security.

Your answer was very clear; however, it gives rise to one more question. Outside the security area but within the airport terminals 2 or 3, are there restaurants or coffee shops...someplace where we all can sit together for the several hour layover?

The only place is Dunkin Donuts store located at Terminal 3, area C(international arrivals). It is not much comfortoble there even there are seats. For a lenghty stay you can use the food court at T1 or T4.

I will arrive at JFK from terminal 8--AA, and then I will take the China eastern Airline to Shanghai. I need to get terminal 1 from terminal 8. How can I get terminal 1? What kind of Airtrain can I take? Can I walk there in twenty minutes?

Take Airtrain on track 2 only - it takes 7 min to get to T1. It is not possible to walk from terminal 8 to terminal 1.

Hi, I'm arriving at JFK tomorrow 4.33pm, 24th on the 2.47pm Delta 3978 from Pittsburgh, I have a connecting flight to Paris Air France #17 at 6.00pm . does anyone know if there is a terminal change here of am I arriving and departing from the same terminal

cheers and much appreciated for any answers

Delta from PIT arrives at T2, and Air France departs out of T1.

A friend of mine is flying in from RDU, North Carolina to JFK. The flight takes off at 1:45 pm and its supposed to land here at 3:20 pm. But she doesn't know what terminal the flight is going to land at. I have to go pick her up but I don't what terminal to go at?

That sounds like it is Jet Blue flight B6 1106. It will land at Terminal 5.

Hi,

I have a flight scheduled to land from Manchester with AA at 13.55.
I have a flight to Orlando leaving Terminal 3 at 16.10 with Delta.
Will I have enough time to collect my bags, clear immigration, transfer to terminal 3, recheck my bags and clear security??
2 hours doesnt seem like very long to do all that!

Depending on how long the lines are at immigration, and how late your bags will come out. Check in your bags as late as possible so they can come out early! After getting your bags, run very fast to the AirTran (train service between terminals). You can ask someone directions to get to the AirTran when you are waiting for your bags. Use the escalators whenever you need to go up and down if you don't have big luggages because elevators will take a longer time.

I will be flying from HKG to JFK (Cathay Pacific), then JFK to IND (Delta airline) on Aug 26. My flight will arrive JFK on 13:10 at Terminal 7 and my next flight to IND will depart at 15:45 at Terminal 3.
Do I have enough time to check-in my luggage again once I arrive the States (JFK) plus walking to Terminal 3? How can I go to Terminal 3 from Terminal 7?

You have plenty of time. Take Airtrain on track 2 to T3 - you will be there in 3-5 minutes.

I will be coming in at JFK on Aug 25, on Singapore Airlines SQ26. Then I have a connecting flight to Detroit on Delta flight 2923. Could you please help me on what the procedure is? My questions are:
1. In what terminal will Singapore Airlines SQ26 land?
2. In what terminal will Delta flight 2923 fly out of?
3. If they are not the same terminals, how do I go from the terminal where SQ26 landed to the terminal of the Delta flight?
4. When I land in JFK on flight SQ26, do I have to get my checked-in luggage from the baggage belt, and re-check them again? If I re-check, which Delta airlines counter do I go to? Is it at the terminal I landed, or the terminal where I will fly out of (to Detroit)?
5. Is it better to have my luggage checked through all the way to Detroit, even if I have to re-check them at JFK airport? (I know that Singapore Airlines & Delta have a baggage transfer agreement, so I can check through to Detroit).
I would appreciate if you could give me step-by-step guidance on the procedures.
Thank you very much!
