As a C1 visa holder she wont't be kept in sterile area - instead she can go out and visit USA. The maximum layover can not exceed 8 hours though.
At JFK, there is no special place for so called transit travelers - everybody is cleared at US customs and for them to make their connections they have to exit and use the airtrain if they need to.And, of course, they can go to the city and it is up to them to observe and follow the rules of C1 visa.

I am departing from YVR on sat dec 18th with Cathay pacific #888 and arrive at JFK at 6:00 am on sun dec 19th. I have to wait for over 15hrs till my next connection which is in the evening on LAN #539 from JFK to GYE (guayaquil) departing at 10:55 pm dec 19th. I was hoping to see the city during the day.
Can I store my luggage. If so, where?
What terminal do I arrive at and which terminal do I depart from?
If i need to change terminals, which terminal should I store my luggage where its best?
And if I store luggage in different terminal from arrival, do I need to go through security, how does that work?

Thank YOU!

You will be arriving at T7. Since you depart on LAN the best place to store the bags is at T4(the terminal for LAN). The baggage storage is located on the first floor, next to Hotel reservation desk, and it is before clearing security.

HELLO again.
Thanks for the information about getting from Terminal 7 to terminal 5/6 for my Jet Blue flight.
I land at JFK, from LHR, at 9 pm and have to pass through immigration, pick up my bag & go through customs, I travel on an Irish passport.
I am in transit to Aguadilla, PR and my flight takes off at 11.44 pm, with Jet Blue.
Do you think I have enough time to make the connection?
I will check in online for the Jet Blue flight before I leave London so I just have to do bag drop and go through security again.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Will there be a lot of traffic through immigration in Terminal 7 at that time, 9pm.
Thanks for your help.

You have plenty of time to transfer . You are correct - it is always better to check-in online and having your boarding pass ready - then the only thing to do id to drop off the bags(where the lines are moving much faster) and head for security clearance after that.
Given the fact that CX888 is a huge flight you will definitely face traffic at customs at that time(plus LHR flight arriving around that time at T7). But you will have the time on your side - almost three hours is plenty of it.

Hi, I am arriving on Dec 24th at about 23 pm from London by British Airways, what is the best, cheapest and comfortable way to get to Manhattan?

My wife and I will be arriving JFK in new year at about 1930 and leaving on a flight about 0800 the next day. Are we allowed to leave the airport to got to a hotel or restaurant, and if so do we need a visa to be allowed to do that?

Yes, you are. If you are cleared by US immigration(even on transit visa) you can go outside of the airport, visit the city and come back next day for your flight.

You will need a valid visa to enter the US at JFK even though you are just transiting through. You can leave the airport but be sure to return with enough time for check-in and security.

Hi, I arrive from London LHR to JFK, on Thursday evening, landing at 9pm with British Airways. I am flying on to AGUADILLA BQN, with Jet Blue at 11.45pm.
Can anyone tell me how I get from one terminal to the other? Are they close?
Obviously I have to clear customs and immigration first.
Thanks.

There is a train that run to all the terminals its called the air train. It is free within the airport and goes to all terminals. The compleate loop takes 10 miniutes.

You will be landing at Terminal 7. From there cross the street and go upstairs ; take Airtrain on track 2 and get off next stop - Terminal 5. It is 1 min. free ride.

Dear JFK_employee,
Hi, I expect to arrive TODAY (Tuesday) with DL 6431 at 6pm at "Gate 23" and to continue with flight DL 210 at 7:15 pm from "Gate 10".
Can I make it? How can I get from one gate to the other? Are these gates in the same terminal? Thanks a lot! HX

Yes, you will be able to make it. Gate 23 is located in terminal 2 and gate 10 is located at terminal 3. Both terminals are connected and if you follow the signs you will be able to transfer between those two gates within 5-10 minutes.
Mo need to clear security again.
