Unlimited-Ride MetroCard permits free transfers

Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard allows one free
transfer of equal or lesser value if you complete your transfer
within two hours of the time you pay your full fare with the same
MetroCard. If you pay your local bus fare with coins, ask for a
free magnetic-strip transfer to use on another local bus.
Reduced-Fare Benefits
You are eligible for reduced-fare
benefits if you are at least 65 years of age or have a qualifying
disability. Benefits are available (except on peak-hour express
buses) with proper identification, including Reduced-Fare
MetroCard or Medicare card (Medicaid cards do not qualify).

How can i reach to JFK terminal 4 from port authority ny.??? how much time and money does it take from a taxi.. to reach there?
There is New York Airport
There is New York Airport Express Service Bus that supposedly leaves Port Authority for JFK every half hour but was told they are only leaving from Grand Central and there website seems to have pulled its schedule. Taxi will be at least $45 from Manhattan to JFK. I have a flight tomorrow morning and still trying to figure how the heck to get to JFK, apparently the airtrain is not working either...

Take NJ Transit train from Morris Plains towards Penn Station, get off at Secaucus Jct, go to the opposite platoform and take a southbound train (towards Trenton, Jersey Ave., Long Branch, etc.) to Newark Airport station. Cost around $20.

You will have to take Metro North train(Harlem line) from White Plains to Grand Central($7-$16, depending on peak or non-peak time ); then subway #6 to Lexington and 53rd street and transfer to subway E to Sutphin Blvd($2.25);there take Airtrain to JFK terminals($5).

Pay no attention to
Pay no attention to JFK-Specialist, he doesn't know diddly. Take AirTrain from terminal to Jamaica Station, transfer to either LIRR (faster but more than subway) or E subway to Penn Station. From there take NJ Transit train to Wayne/Rt 23 Transit Center (transfer at Montclair). Late night trains run every 1.5 hours or so. See www.njtransit.com for details.

Cheapest is by Airtrain/subway $7.25; take Airtrain from terminal to Jamaica Station and transfer to the J subway to Essex St. Walk south on Essex St 4 blocks to Canal St, turn right and walk 3 blocks to Allen St.
