Yes you can. Take an air train on track 2 from terminal 5 to terminal 1 arrivals hall. It should take 1 minute.

Hey, my flight (79) leaves terminal 5 at 6am....what time should my family and I arrive at the airport? (we are being dropped off so we don't need time to park)

Rule of thumb is two hours prior to domestic flight, 3 hours prior to international flight. It also depends what time the Jet Blue check-in counter opens in the morning!

The reply below is incorrect! Jet Blue is T5 and there's only one long term parking area located at Lefferts Blvd, accessible by AirTrain-Howard Beach train.
