JFK International Airport AirTrain
AirTrain JFK is the train service that operates between JFK
International Airport, Long Island Rail Road trains and New York City Subway.
It also serves as an on-airport service connecting the airline terminals, rental
car facilities, hotel shuttles, and airport parking lots.
Air Train JFK has
3 routes:
- Howard Beach route
The Howard Beach route ends at the Howard Beach-JFK subway station. It stops
at Lefferts Boulevard (connecting transit services - B15 bus) for shuttle buses
to long term parking lots A and B and to airport employee parking.
Connecting transit services: A subway train, Q11 bus
- Jamaica Station route
The Jamaica route ends at Jamaica Station on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR)
next to the Sutphin Boulevard/Archer Avenue-JFK subway station (to Brooklyn
and Manhattan or Queens).
Connecting transit services: E, J and Z subway
trains, Q6, Q8, Q9, Q20A, Q20B, Q25/Q34, Q30, Q31, Q40, Q43, Q44, Q60 and
Q65 buses
Both routes make a counterclockwise loop through the airport and stop at each
terminal.
- Airline Terminal route
The Airline Terminal route connects 6 terminal stations (Terminal 1, 2-3,
4, 5-6, 7 and 8-9). Route operates in the opposite direction, making a clockwise
loop.
All JFK AirTrain stations are wheelchair accessible. Howard Beach subway and
Jamaica Long Island Railroad stations are wheelchair accessible too.

- Rides between all other JFK AirTrain stations are free

If your friends arrive
If your friends arrive before you they can take AirTrain on track 2 from T5 to T3 (Delta) and you can arrange to meet on the arrivals level near baggage claim. If you arrange to meet at T5 you will take AirTrain on track 1 from T3 to T5.

Take AirTrain on track 1 from terminal to Howard Beach Station, take inbound A subway to Jay St/Metrotech, cost for both is $7.25.
Terminal 8 to Terminal 3
I will arrive from Helsinki with FINNAIR to Terminal 8 and departure to Dallas Ft Worth from Terminal 3 with DELTA AIR LINES. Which airtrain track should i take to get from and to theese Terminals (are theese trains marked with any info about route where do they go?). Where and when do I have to check in my luggage? Four hours will be enough to carry out?
Take AirTrain on track 2
Take AirTrain on track 2 (Terminal Loop) from T8 to T3. Go to Delta check in on the departure level.

At HEL, ask Finnair if it can check your baggage through to DFW. If it can, you would still have to claim your baggage at Terminal 8 for Customs inspection, but you could then re-check it at the baggage re-check desk right after Customs in Terminal 8.
From Terminal 8 to Terminal 2/3, you would take the "All Terminals" AirTrain which usually operates on Track 2. But there are electronic signs by the AirTrain boarding doors which identify each train's route. There may also be uniformed personnel in the Terminal 8 AirTrain station who can assist you. The ride from Terminal 8 to the Terminal 2/3 AirTrain station should take no longer than ten minutes.
Getting to Penn Station or Grand Central Station
I'll be arriving in JFK on Nov 27th at 11pm. I need to catch Metro North to Peekskill,NY. Will AirTrain get me to either Station. I can transfer once I'm at Penn. But would like to know how long from airport to city. Any info would be appreciated.
Metro North trains depart
Metro North trains depart from Grand Central; take AirTrain on track 1 from terminal to Jamaica Station, transfer to inbound E subway to Lexington/53rd St, transfer to downtown #6 subway one stop to 42nd St/Grand Central. Cost for AirTrain/subway is $7.25 and allow at least 1 hour travel time. NYAirports bus also has a shuttle that stops at Grand Central, cost is $15.

I am arriving at JFK on dec 29 at 6:05 PM.
I need to get a train to Philly from Penn st. What is the easiest and fastest route. Could i make it to the 9:05 train or should I wait for the 10:59?
If you can leave the airport
If you can leave the airport by 7:30 you should be able to make the 9:05. Easiest and most direct is by taxi, travel time around 45 min to 1 hr depending on traffic, cost is $45+tolls+tip. By public transit; take AirTrain on track 1 from terminal to Jamaica Station and transfer to LIRR to Penn Station, travel time around 45 minutes depending on connections, cost around $12.

Where can I Buy a Metrocard to take the airtrain to any subway?
At Metrocard vending
At Metrocard vending machines located at either of the AirTrain terminals (Howard Beach and Jamaica). Riding the AirTrain itself is free; you only have to pay when passing through the fare gates at Howard Beach or Jamaica.
Metrocards may also be available from some of the Hudson News newsstands located in the various airline terminals at JFK.
transit time

I am flying in from santiago to JFK airport on 4 november. I will reach JFK by 08 35 . My connecting flight to Chennai is only at 19 00 hrs. I would like to go for a short city tour during this transit time of about 12 hours. can you advice wether this time is enough .
