Any opportunity to smoke in Terminal 3?

I will be arriving at JFK in terminal one (with Korean air) and have to get my American airline(at terminal 8) six hours later. How long does transit from terminals 1 to 8 take? Do I have to check in my luggage again for the second flight or will it be transferred automatically?

Hi Elly:

There's a free transportation system between terminals at JFK called Airtram. you can find it right outside of every terminal building. Travel time between those two terminals should be around 10 minutes.

You can check with Korean, and most likely they do have a baggage agreement with American Airlines. So make sure they check your bags all the way to your final destination upon check in for your first flight.

HOWEVER, please keep in mind, that you have to clear Immigration and customs at the first port of entry into USA, in this case JFK, this means you have to pick your luggage up in New york, go through customs, and then give it back to the TSA (Transportation Security Authority) after clearing customs.

Hope this helps, and welcome to United States.

I am traveling to Mexico 30th September and I am flying through JFK with a 21 hour stop over. I was wondering if it was possible to leave the airport and go into New York city for a few hours and then return to the airport to catch my on-going flight to Mexico city. Do I need a visa for this in advance or is it a case of once at JFK I can leave?

I would be grateful if someone could help me.

Where are you flying from and what your citizenship is will determine if you need a visa or not

Arrived back home at Heathrow Airport on Tuesday 3rd Sept 08 from New York via JFK to find my luggage and my partners had been tampered with. My padlock had been removed and stolen and my partners combination lock had been forced open. Contacted British Airways who said this is common policy and the law at JFK. We should have been advised by BA staff at JFK but we weren't. We should have received a letter in our lugguage but we didn't. At least BA will pay for new padlocks but that's not the point. Isn't it an abuse of my civil liberty and security for anyone to break open into my lugguge? Has this happened to anyone else?
Your comments would be appreciated

This is a common practice for the TSA (Transportation Safety Administration). There is usually a piece of paper indicating that they searched the bag and explaining why (the organization was created after 9/11). If you have a non-TSA approved lock, they always cut them off. I suppose it is a bit of a violation, but we've lived with it for years now and not too many complaints. They normally tell you when you drop off the bag for screening, so there was definitely a miss on that one.

hi!
I would like to know how much I will have to pay for extra kilos on luggage.
thank you!

how fare is jfk apt to cape liberty Nj? and how much is a taxi fare ?

On 21st August my partner and I arrived in JFK Airport on flight DL97 from Edinbuergh UK. Having past through innigration and custom control we arrived at an area to be collected to be transferred to our hotel. Whilst in this area my partner used the female toilets and found them to be utterly disgusting. There appears to be no toilet attendants supervising/cleaning the cubicles.

As first impressions go, arriving in New York we were extremely disappointed in this basic lack of hygene. In fact the toilet were so disgusting my partner refused to use the facilities provided. This observation was also commented on by others in our party.

On the 1/09/08 we used the terminal 7 departure lounges for a BA flight to London. The toilets were in a deplorable state. Both restrooms were unusable if you needed to use the cubicles. One cubical was blocked with effluent running over the floor, three had doors which could not be locked and most toilet paper dispensers were empty. We were in the terminal for about 3 hours and saw cleaners go in but the situation was not rectified, a quick wipe with a mop was all the activity seen. For the supposedly most advanced country in the world it was disgusting. I will never use JFK again.
If you have to use terminal 7, ensure you will not need to use the cubicles!

I need to contact Delta Airlines Baggage Service Office. Will someone please provide me with the office telephone number so I may reach them?

Hi Sudd,

I have my wife and two kids travelling from BOS to JFK and need porter services. Did you find some for the senior citizens traveling to India ?

We have 3 senior citizen passengers arriving from boston to JFK on their way to India and would be having about 8 big bags with them. Can any body tell me if there are porters at the JFK airport to help them with the luggage?

Can anyone tell me if their is a smoking area anywhere in the airport?
