i will be arriving to terminal 4 and need to get to terminal 8 (also go thru immigration, baggage claim and transit. all in 2 and 1\4 hours). how do i get there? anyone know? will i have enough time? thanks!!!

You can take the free airtrain from one terminal to the other. You should have enough time.

Arriving from Portland, OR at 2:51 PM
Leaving for Boston, MA at 6:50 PM
on August 20th (Thursday)

Is there a bus/ or some other quick overview tour to show highlights of NYC??

Is there anything I can safely do without taking a chance of missing my next flight???

JFK is not located close enough to Manhattan ("NYC") for you to comfortably travel there, tour and return within 4 hours also leaving enough time to get through security. You can relax at the airport instead..

Basically you only have about 3 hours. It's pretty tight. Going to and from the city alone will eat up a lot of your time. I suggest you stay and relax at the airport.

I am coming into NYC by Train to catch a flight to New Dehli. How do I get from the Amtrak station to the airport I am traveling alone and really don't know too much about NYC. Please help

there are three ways that i know of to get to the airport...
1. the subway which means lugging your bag up and down the stairs of the platform and then switching to the airtrain at jfk total cost is about $7
2. Taxi depending on what time of day your are going to the airport it cost cost anywhere from $40 and up
3. take a cab from penn station to grand central and take the charter bus that is across the street from grand central to the airport. if you google it you will find the information with time and cost of the bus. ive used this bus a number of times and its always worked out well.

JFK Delta/Northwest Baggage Dept. NEVER answers their phone.

The Supervisors NEED to address this problem.

Their public msg machine is full, cant leave a msg. Agents of both Delta and Northwest have tried thier private number to the baggage dept. They dont answer!!!
A gentleman called my cellphone that was attached to my carry on bag to tell me he dropped my bag with the Gate agent at terminal 4. I can not get anyone to get through to the baggage dept. to be able to check.

June 11, 2009
Northwest Flight 1230
Detroit to JFK
22 inch black carry on with name and phone number on tag. Turned in to gate agent, terminal 4 by passenger on same flight. (Obviously still has identification tag on bag since passenger that turned it in called me)

I also am trying to contact the baggage dept., since 6/14th for a bag left behind. The message machine has been full since then and I am wondering if something is wrong with the phone in that it is never picked up.

How do I travel between JFK and New Paltz

best rgds

gesta,

If you haven't figured this out already....

You can go a few ways:

1) Take the sky train from JFK to the NYC subway system A train. Take the A train to Broaway Nassau Stop and change to the number 4 train going North getting off at Grand Central Station. Take the Metro North Railroad to Poukeepsie and then take a taxi to New Paltz which is just across the river.

2) Take the sky train from JFK to the NYC subway system A train. Take the A train to the Port Authority Bus terminal. You can buy tickets online or at the ticket counter there that go straight to New Paltz. The times may not fit your schedule hence the train option.

Hi,

Im arriving this friday at terminal 7 and one hour later I have to meet another friend at terminal 8 then meet another friend at terminal 1
My question can we go from a terminal to another ?? or is there a central meeting point where we can all meet ???

Sure you can move between terminals. I've done it myself a few times, just jump on the airtain and within minutes you'll be at terminal 8. If you miss a stop it takes 10 minutes for the airtrain to complete it's loop and you'll be back where you started. Some terminals have better food courts than others as well so if you've a long wait you can grab a bite to eat.

My daughter of 16 will come to JFK alone from Europe. Is there a meeting point where she could wait until her friends will come to pick up ? She will arrive at Terminal M and her friends won't be there as they have to take another plane arriving later on.

There's not Terminal M at JFK. I goes from Terminal 1 to 9. You can go from one terminal to the other via Airtrain. There's really not central area as there are too many terminals. Your daughter can meet her friends at their arrival terminal or vice versa.
