Just wondering if I will have enough time to get off the plane, get my bag in terminal 4 after landing at 6:53pm, then get to terminal 6 to check in for an international flight that leaves at 9:45pm.

A reader of my blog directed me to this string. Here's my JFK rant...

http://platinumelite.blogspot.com/2007/01/my-rant-about-jfk-airport.html

It seems there is a culture of rudeness and gross incompetence prevalent in the CBP staff at JFK terminal 4, especially Officer LaMonica and even his supervisor Kennedy, and just about any one you happen to talk to or call on the phone at the CBP.

I have been all over the world including the most backward countries in the world, but the CBP staffs at JFK terminal 4 have been the worst scums I have come across. The second worst happen to be in Toronto on both sides of the border. It is not so bad in LAX airport and other ports of entry in the US. Perhaps they are more educated or just more civilized.

The CBP at JFK airport terminal 4 are not only rude they are also incompetent to boot.

Recently I arrived at Terminal 4 with my friend who is a Canadian citizen and who was catching a connecting flight to Toronto within a few hours of arriving.

Even though she informed them, and I informed them too, that she was in transit they still charged her duty illegally just out of spite after delaying her unnecessarily. And from the look of it they do it quite often with impunity because they had a sad excuse ready for it. They simply lied. When I filed a formal complaint they lied through their teeth that my friend had told them she was stopping in the USA for a wedding. She had a valid ticket for onward flight which she did take and has a boarding card to prove it.

That goes to say that to hide their incompetence the grossly under educated, if educated at all, CBP staff will even resort to shamefully lying, which I am sure is against their code of conduct...or should be.

All my attempts to contact them about the complaint is attended by the rudest assholes who either put me on hold and walk away or tell me that the same supervisor kennedy will call me, and of course he never does. At other times they tell me to write to DC and deal with them. My email messages to DC have also gone unanswered, who I am sure are staffed by the same uneducated and uncivilized bunch.

You are a TOOL!
What education do you have??
Next time make your Canadian friend proof read your complaint.
Where is the RESPECT for law enforcement officers?
You went anonymous like a PANZY and put their names in the post. What kind of MEGALOMANIAC are you?
How would you like it if this officer posted your name???
You should just stay home next time, TOOL!!
PS: Look at the educational requirements before responding.

The above poster is insane? So how did he disrespect 'law enforcement' exactly? 'Educational requirements'? You don't even KNOW this person! Get a grip!

As I got off the plane I started coughing. The Delta flight attendant from my flight offered my a water to have with me as we waited for our next flight. After we passed through customs, needing for some reason to pass though metal detectors again, they made me dispose of the water. We were then hearded like animals up an escalator, lucky us it was working, then we turn the corner, this one is not working, not only is it not working but it appears to have been out of service for many monthes if not over a year, the dirt had accumulated in the grooves of the escalator there were dust bunnies and lint balls everywhere. We preceded to our terminal and on the way I came down with a bout of coughing my throat was locking up I could not breath without coughing. I needed water. $4.00 for a little tiny bottle. This however was not the problem the problem was the dirt, I only have hayfever allergies not extreme allergy, but the dust in the airport made me sick, sweaty and embarresed. This is a very serious problem, an airport employee threaten not to let me get on my flight if I didn't stop coughing, he said other passengers may be concerned I have a virus. I refused to stay in the airport another minute than I had to. After boarding the plane my coughing subsided but didn't stop, as soon as they closed the cabin doors I could finally breath again. You might not think airplane air is good, but after experiencing what I did at JFK I was greatful for the Dry, but clean airplane air. I forgot to mention the lady recollecting our baggage after customs cursed at me, she actually said G*d D@mit, because I placed my bag in the yellow lines where she pointed, she wanted it outside the line, this I did but she yelled the curse at me anyhow. Whats the yellow box painted on the floor for anyway?

This is the WORST airport terminal I have ever been to. It was much unorganized with people just standing everywhere. The TSA reps taking bags to run thru the check were VERY RUDE and told us to just leave our bags and get out of the way..... Well now I have been home for three days and I still do not have my bags!! I would highly recommend staying with your bags if you must fly out of this airport. But I would even more strongly recommend using another airport. My vacation has been completely ruined dealing with this. I will NEVER fly thru JFK again.
