History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

Cat pickup
Im flying in to JFK from London (BA) on Wednesday (early afternoon arrival).
My cat will be on the same flight.
Can you please tell me:
- where I will need to pick her up?
- best way to get there with 5 -6 bags (2 people)?
- how long I will need to allow to get her from the other area?
- how we should get into Manhattan after picking her up?
We've been stuck in the cargo area before without a car or taxi and don't want to go through that again.
Our most likely option is a minivan but I would like to know how long the clearing process is before I book the minivan at $70 per hour.

If the animal is on the same flight you will have to talk to BA representatives as soon as you get to the baggage claim.
Most convenient way for you to get into the city is to get either:
1. Yellow cab - there is a minivan(yellow cab) that holds more bags and the price is the same - flat fare of $45 + $5 toll for the whole cab.
or
2. Get a private van for a price ranging from $80 to $140 to the city. For that you have to speak for one of the agents at the Ground Transportation counter located right after you exit the customs at T7.

Will I have enough time to get my connecting flight?
Monday March 1st I'll arrive in terminal 3 at 4:59pm. My connecting flight is scheduled for departure in terminal 4 at 6:35pm. Both Delta flights.
Will I have enough time to get the connecting flight? It's just 1:30 hour and I also have to collect my luggage (amI right?).

For airport like JFK 1.5 hrs is VERY tight to transfer to another flight. Leave it alone, we are talking about two international flights. The situations in this case would be better if you don't have to change the terminals. When you clear the customs at T3, find the connecting flights counter and let them transfer your bags so you don't have to carry them with you to T4. Double check again if your flight to AMS is out of T4(I am 99% sure is out of T4, but still). Once you exit T3, go up the ramp and make right after the second traffic light; there is walkway to T4(walking distance no more than 5min). At T4 go straight to the gates(assuming you got your boarding pass at T3). Good luck!

Meeting at JFK on arrival
My flight will arrive at Terminal 4 (KLM from London) and my mom will arrive at Terminal 7 (Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong) on the same day but 15 minutes apart. Where is the best place for us to meet?
