JFK International Airport AirTrain
AirTrain JFK is the train service that operates between JFK
International Airport, Long Island Rail Road trains and New York City Subway.
It also serves as an on-airport service connecting the airline terminals, rental
car facilities, hotel shuttles, and airport parking lots.
Air Train JFK has
3 routes:
- Howard Beach route
The Howard Beach route ends at the Howard Beach-JFK subway station. It stops
at Lefferts Boulevard (connecting transit services - B15 bus) for shuttle buses
to long term parking lots A and B and to airport employee parking.
Connecting transit services: A subway train, Q11 bus
- Jamaica Station route
The Jamaica route ends at Jamaica Station on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR)
next to the Sutphin Boulevard/Archer Avenue-JFK subway station (to Brooklyn
and Manhattan or Queens).
Connecting transit services: E, J and Z subway
trains, Q6, Q8, Q9, Q20A, Q20B, Q25/Q34, Q30, Q31, Q40, Q43, Q44, Q60 and
Q65 buses
Both routes make a counterclockwise loop through the airport and stop at each
terminal.
- Airline Terminal route
The Airline Terminal route connects 6 terminal stations (Terminal 1, 2-3,
4, 5-6, 7 and 8-9). Route operates in the opposite direction, making a clockwise
loop.
All JFK AirTrain stations are wheelchair accessible. Howard Beach subway and
Jamaica Long Island Railroad stations are wheelchair accessible too.

In 2010 February, Airline terminal route has not been stopping in Terminal 8. Does it now stop in Terminal 8?

It was probably temporarily. Everything is working fine now. Airtrain stops at T8.

Can someone tell me how much
Can someone tell me how much it will cost to store a 26" duffle bag for about 28 hours? does that count as 2 days? Also does anyone know the cheapest and fastest way to get to midtown Manhattan during middle of the weekday? Thanks.

That is mid-size bag and the price will be around $12 per day. Unfortunately, 28 hours will be considered as two(2) days.
During middle of weekday the cheapest way to get to midtown is public transportation($7.25); the fastest way is a yellow cab($50.50). As you see those two ways are very different.

Airtrain from Terminals
Hello.
I am arriving at JFK with JetBlue (I think Terminal 5) and have to get on a plane in Terminal 1 (Korean Air). I was wondering if I could know where the stations are at these terminals, so I can reduce the time looking for them.
It would be also nice to actually have this kind of information somewhere on this website!!
Airtrain station at T5 is
Airtrain station at T5 is located on the third floor. Once at T1 Airtrain Station all you have to do is go one floor up and cross over to the terminal.

Moving in JFK
I am Arring on march 23rd at JFK on KLM flight no. KL 643 from Amsterdam at 21:00 and have a flight the same day to San Juan,Puerto Rico on Jet blue flight no. 717 at 23:59.
Which Terminal do i arrive? Which Terminal do i have to go to?. How do i get to my departure terminal?, How much time will it take to get to my departure terminal?. What is the whole process i have to pass to get to my departure Terminal(meaning: Migration, baggage claim, security or else)?
And Finaly , Do you think i Will be able to get on time to my departure flight, knowing i have onle 2:59 minutes between flights and knowing that both flights are international? or Do you think i should change my Departure flight?.

Hi Raul,
You will be arriving at Terminal 4. Once you arrive you will go through immigration, pick up your bags and then customs. After you exit customs look for "Connecting flights " counter for KLM where you can transfer your bags over to your Jet Blue flight to SJU. On the third floor of T4 is located Airtrain station where you can take Airtrain to Terminal 5(Jet Blue Terminal). It will take you no more than 15 min to travel between those two terminals. At T5(assuming you already have you boarding pass; if not, go to Jet Blue check-in counter at T5) go to the second floor and look for security checkpoint where you clear security and go to the gates. Don't worry - you have plenty of time between the flights to get everything done.

Conecting flights with diferent airlines
Hello, i am also doing this that Raul is Doing. Just that i am going to Santo Domingo(SDQ) via SJU.
I have some question though:
1st, i read on this page that the Airtrain travels in the oposite direction, making a clockwise loop, so does it means that if i arrive on T4 and i have to go to T5, i have to pass by all the other Terminals? Can you go walking from T4 to T5 since they seem to be one next to each other? Would it be faster if i go walking from T4 to T5?
You said in the response to Raul that you can transfer your bags from the KLM Conecting Flight Counter on T4 to the Jet Blue Flight to SJU on T5. So to be sure i dont necessarily have to check in my bags and get my boarding pass at the Jet Blue check in counter therefore can i get my bouarding pass at one of those machines?, because I thought that for international jet Blue flights you have to checkin your bags and get your boarding pass a the Jet Blue checkin counters for obligation.
And final question, is it safe for my bags if i transfer them from the KLM Conecting Flight Counter on T4, knowing that those two airlines are not associated?,

Hey Yolanda,
The Airtrain has two routes and the shortest one in your case is to take Airtrain on Track 1. On that side the next stop will be T5. On track 2(clockwise movement) it will go through all the terminals before it reaches T5(although is only 8 min to make the whole loop). May be walking will be faster(weather permitting) since the two buildings are close.
For your second question you can double check with KLM connecting flights counter representative at T4 - they will know what exactly to do in that situation.
Even KLM and Jet Blue are not associated the may still have an agreement for transferring the bags between their flights.

Can you please let me know how to get to Columbus Avenue in NYC from JFK Airport.
Also, just wondering if we catch AIRTRAIN do we have our luggage with us or does AIRTRAIN provide designated spaces for the luggage separate to the passenger compartments.
Will appreciate of someone can please advise me ASAP. This is our first time in NYC.

Airtrain have plenty of space for luggage(even designated space).
Columbus Ave is very stretchy avenue. From Howard Beach Station you can take Subway Line A which runs next to Columbus Ave.

We assume there will be signs to get to train station?
Also, you've mentioned that Columbus Avenue is very stretchy. Can you please let us know which station / platform we need to take from JFK Airport, and the transfer of trains / platform (if required) to get to Columbus Avenue.
Apologies - we don't know the train system in NYC...yet!
