No need. If the long term parking gets filled up(it happens very rarely, usually around the holidays)they sent the cars to different back-up parking lots(including short term, where charged long term rates are implemented).

Are there any parking accommodations for cars with placards? For example, Newark allows handicapped parking in short-term lot handicapped spaces at long-term rates. Please advise.

Call parking operator at 1(718) 244 4168 for more info on that.

If I park my truck in the lot Wed 4/21 evening @ 5pm until Sunday night 4/26 (flight lands at 11:55 pm), basically five 24 hour periods plus 8 hours if I calculated correctly- Does this qualify for long term parking? Its almost $200 which is a lot for one person to pay who is going away for just five days, almost as much as my flight.

What matters here is not how long have you parked the truck - is where will you park it. There is designated parking space for long term parking and there the rate is $18/day. The short term parkings are usually located in front of each terminal and the cost there is $33/day.
So if you park the truck at long term parking , just take Airtrain (which is free from there) to your terminal. The ride is no more than 10-15 min.

I am departing on AA and arriving on Delta. The AirTrain goes through the terminals in numeric sequence, correct? Meaning, if I park at Delta, I can take the airtrain from T3 to T8 as opposed to parking at AA and taking the train from T8 to T3, going through Lefforts, and back to T1 and T2.

If you park at AA parking lot all you have to do is take Airtrain only on track 2(it goes counterclockwise -T8-> T7->T5/6->T4->T3/2->T1->T8....). The ride between T8 and T3 is only 5 min.
If you park at T3, taking the same train at track 2 will take you only 2 min to reach T8.

Short term parking is $33/day - 8days X $33 = $264.
I would suggest you long term parking - it is only $18/day; that will save you ~100 bucks. Airtrain is very convenient from long term parking to Jet Blue terminal.

Where's the best and secure place to leave my car park from May 1 to May 6...

Long term parking($18/day) is one of the options.
Check the other private parkings - the may have cheaper rates:
