We want to go from NYC to Palmyra. Is the best option renting a car, driving through unfamiliar territory or is there some kind of shuttle, etc. that would be available?

There is no direct shuttle from JFK to Palmyra,NY.
Your options are either go to Penn Station in Manhattan and then take Amtrak to Rochester,NY or go to Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan and then take Greyhound bus to Rochester.
Palmyra is 10-15 miles from Rochester,NY.
If it is not too late you can book connecting flight JFK-Rochester; Jet Blue is flying to that destination.

Take the Shuttle Bus from JFK to Penn Station. Then you can take the Amtrak Train fro Penn Station to new London or Hartford(Different trains) depending where y9ou are going.

There is shuttle called Connecticut Limo; leaves JFK every hour; book it at Ground Transportation(Welcome Center) as you arrive.

hi we have a plane leaving at 17h45 from jfk to Ireland on Saturday. What is the best option for 2 people from east 55 at NYC, and at what time should we left Manhatan? Thanks

If you take a taxi , leave the city no later that 2:30-3pm.
If you take subway(line E from E53rd Street to Sutphin stop and then Airtrain) leave no later than 2pm.

East 55th Street to JFK
You can have the door to door Shuttle pick you up. You want to be picked up by 1:00 PM because you want to be at the airport by at least 2 and 1/2 hours before you fly with Security and all. Plus the door to door shuttle picks other people up. Better to be safe than late.
From JFK to Manhattan
I need to go from JFK to Manhattan to the hotel Ramada Eastside Hotel that is located at 30th Street and Lexington Avenue in the genteel Murray Hill neighbourhood. What would be the best option how to get there?

You can either take a taxi (yellow cabs have flat fare of $50.50 for the whole taxi) or take a shuttle at Ground Transportation (Welcome Center) counter for $18.50/passenger.
You can also use public transportation(Airttrai+Subway) which will cost you $7.25/person. Let me know if you consider the last option.
