I debating purchasing a ticket from Delta to Pisa in August because they have a nonstop flight from JFK.
My connection time once I land in Atlanta is only 47 minutes to connect to the flight to Pisa. I have never flown thru JFK, is that enough time to catch the connecting flight on to Pisa?

You should be OK with that layover time given the facts that you arrive domestic and the same airline is flying you over to Pisa.Check again if it is Delta operated flight(not code share with Al Italia).

My wife is travelling from Mexico City to Rome Fiumicino. She has a transit in JFK. The arrival flight is AM402 and the leave flight is AZ611. Can you elaborate the transit procedure. What are the immigration procedures? There is a change of terminal?
Thank You
Antonio

She has to go through US immigration, pick up her bags and go through US customs and then re-check her bags again on to her next flight.
Both airlines are at the same terminal - Terminal 1.

I will be flying May 4 arriving @ JFK around 9:30pm EST; how can i get to albany from there? What is the fastest/ cheapest option? Thank you!

1. By bus
From JFK take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Jamaica Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the red colored sign is Jamaica one). Then take subway line E to 42nd street stop(fare-$7.25;time-1:15 hrs.).
Or you can take NYAS express bus from any terminal at JFK to PA bus terminal(fare-$15;time-1 hour).
At Port Authority Bus Terminal take Greyhound bus to Albany,NY. Fare:$28-$31;time~3hours.

2. By train
Take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Jamaica Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the red colored sign is Jamaica one). Then either:
-take subway line E to Penn Station(total fare - $7.25) or
-take LIRR to Penn Station(faster;total fare ~ $13';less on weekends)
At Penn Station take Amtrak to Albany,NY(fare:$37-$63;time~3hours)

Hi,

My parents will be traveling this summer from another country with connect flight through JFK. Is there a service they could use to assist them though customs and to the gate since they do not speak English?

Thank you!

Unfortunately, there is no such a service at JFK. What I will suggest you to do ( I have seen it many times and it works) is, write on a piece of paper their connecting flight details(Airline, destination, time, flight number etc). Let them show that info to any uniformed employee at JFK and they will guide them through.
In customs/immigration is much easier - if officers need any additional info from them(which rarely happens) they will have a translator's help.

Dear You.
My daughter and I hopefully go til NY on Monday(if the vulcano on Iceland stays quiet:o) We will arrive at about 5 pm. We have to stay at West side YMCA. Will it be secure to take the subway? We come from Denmark and I am a kind of nervous about crimes in the subway. What is the easiest way to go til West 63rd Street?
Thank you. Mette

Dear Mette,
The NY subway is safe and secure to travel on at that time. Here are the three more common options that you have in order to get to West Side YMCA:

1. By taxi:
Yellow cab (from JFK to any point to Manhattan) costs flat rate of $45 + bridge toll($5.50). The price is for the whole taxi, not per passenger.
Travel time: 40-50 minutes.

2. By shuttle:
There is shuttle(look for it at Ground transportation counter or Welcome Center) that goes to any hotel/hostel in Manhattan for $18.50 per person.
Travel time: 1hr - 1.5 hrs.

3. By public transportation:
Take Airtrain from any terminal on track 1 to Howard Beach Station( be careful - on that track there are two alternating trains going to different routes; check the sign above the doors as the train arrives; the green colored sign is Howard Beach one). Then take subway line A to 59th street/Columbus Circle stop. Total fare:$7.25 per passenger;Travel time ~1:15-1:30 min.
After you exit the subway walk three blocks north on Central Park West street - the hotel is right after you cross West 63rd street
