Dealing with international travellers with small children
When we arrived at JFK last September, after a 33 hour flight, our 11 month old girl was absolutely beside herself in the check-in line at the airport. We were very far back in the line and were unable to comfort our baby properly because of having to shift our luggage and move along the line. Here's a suggestion to the indifferent staff at the airport:
Bring families with screaming children to the front of the line!
All in all, we were really disappointed with the unfriendliness and indifference of the airport staff at every US airport we visited. We won't be hurrying back.
i dont understand
i dont understand what you are complaining about. You were allowed to cut to the front of the line?
That is awesome. You are so lucky! That never happens to other Americans. Relatively speaking you were treated very well.
33 hours direct flight still
33 hours direct flight still not possible even if you are flying with the new Airbus 380 so I guess you meant 33 hours of travelling… in any case I do not think that is the point.
I’m Afraid it is not a matter of being American or European, being smart or stupid, being parents or not, travelling is tiring especially with an 11 months old child…
but that dose not give you any priority in the check in line… unfortunately that is the way it is, like it or not. I personally think it is fair, we all have our problem and priorities… deep inside we all have a reason which we believe is good enough to bring us in front of the line… but it dose not work that way.
So next time instead of complaining… JUST ASK!!! Worst case they’ll say no…. but I’m quite sure that if the baby is really suffering nobody will refuse some help… maybe they could let you go through the business check in…
I doubt the flight was 33
I doubt the flight was 33 hours. Also, I don't really see how moving your luggage in the way one does when one is in a line at the check-in would make any difference to your ability to comfort your daughter. The staff are unfriendly and indifferent at JFK. Here's a suggestion:
Deal with it!
Mind your own business
Well you obviously don't have children....... Were you on the 33 hour flight with her? Didn't think so, then shut up. Do you work for the airport? You don't know how long her flight was. It's very difficult to get your children comfortable while in line and having to push your luggage along or pick it up and move it. Or wait, maybe you have children but you and your children are perfect. Man your a loser to reply back what you did. Her main point was that the people at the airport SUCK! They do and they don't care, that is something everyone will have to deal with unless enough peopel complain. Get a life!
stupid people
So while I admit there are stupid Americans, there are plenty of stupid Europeans too. Just because you are from Europe doesn't mean you are intelligent
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A COMMERICIAL PLANE TO BE IN THE AIR FOR 33 HOURS STRAIGHT THAT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE. POST THE FLIGHT THEN.
SECOND it sounds like you have a problem with airports in the US and maybe even the people. That's fine. Don't come. I don't like France, so I don't visit anymore. But I don't go to Web sites and complain about it.
Yes I have 2 children
Yes, I dont like people to complain.
You have a child. Great!
You have a child. Great! Sound the trumpets and blare the horns! You have managed the impossible and have given birth! Those millions of other people in the world who claim to have experienced this miracle are liars... You have given birth and this makes you special...
Seriously?!?!? Are you friggin' kidding me? Just because your child does not seem to have the ingrained knowledge of how to behave, I am SURE that there are other 11 month old children out there who are not fussed after long flights and can sleep rather quietly and behave themselves does NOT mean that you should get special treatment. On the other hand, I am sure that there are fully grown adults who, after a 33 hour flight are just as fussy as your bundle of annoyance who might just riot if you cut the line for your own comfort and convenience.
How about, instead of blaming an "unfriendly and indifferent" airport staff, why don't you consider that when you travel you'll be bumping into lines everywhere you go and NOT CARRY SO MUCH STUFF?! Or at the very least, get a skycap or one of those handy-cart things... Just because you have a child that is prone to screaming (which, I might add, has probably irritated the rest of the passengers on your flight so it was really rather selfish of YOU to have foisted that off on hundreds of other people) does not mean that you'll get shuttled to the front of the line avoiding the very wait that EVERYONE ELSE has to deal with.
So, GET A CLUE. The next time you want to travel with your child, make it a short trip, don't carry so much crap with you or just don't travel at all until your child is old enough to be able to understand the phrase, "silence is golden."
If they allow people with
If they allow people with screaming kids to the front of the line they will have to bring elderly, disabled and everyone else froward too.
Don't be so selfish - try and get there earlier if needs be
That or you could stop
That or you could stop asking for favors because you had a child! That doesn't make you special in any way!
Tax on Bags
hi,
I take a PIA
(pakistan internation airline) flight from Karachi to NY then i have connected flight till Atlanta. My last stop is atlanta but i have to do my immigration and take my laguage at NY and then take delta flight for ATL.So do i have to pay any tax for my bags at NY airport plzz give me information abt this.
i m very thank full for u
Check out the baggage
Check out the baggage allowance on delta airlines.Because on PIA two bags each weighing 32 kgs are allowed but on domestic flight mostly only one bag weighing 22.7kgs for check-in is allowed. So you might have to pay more if you are travelling with excess baggage than allowed on delta airlines. So better check that out.

Hallo ...
