Hi, My parents are arriving at JFK in AirIndia on 21st June 2010. They will be catching the connecting flight American Airlines(AA4146) to Columbus.
Could you pls tell me the following:
1)At which Terminal they will be arriving?
2)At which Terminal they have to board the AA4146
3)What is the best way to get into the Departure Terminal from the Arrival Terminal?
4)What the procedures they will be following after arriving at the arrival terminal.(Pls do mention the levels/floor whr they can do the Immigration checks and custom check and baggage claim.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

1.) Air India arrives at Terminal 4
2.) AA departs out of Terminal 8
3.) The best way is to take Airtrain between terminals.
4.) Here is the sequence :
- disembark the plane; let them follow the rest of the people - everybody is going to the same place
- going through US immigration
- find out which belt their bags are coming on. Get the luggage. There are people to help them with info, bags etc.
- go through US customs.
- after that let them look for Connecting flights counters(it is on the left immediately after they exit customs). There they will transfer the bags at Air India counter onto their next AA flight.
- now this is the hard part - they have to find the third floor(follow the signs for the Airtrain) where the Airtrain platform is located.
- let them take ANY train(regardless on which side/track);
- Terminal 8 is 3 stops away(it is 3 min free ride; again - the train does not matter)
- After the get off the train let them go one floor down(to the second floor), cross over to the terminal and take elevator/escalator to the third floor of Terminal 8.
- there they will go through security check point and look for the gate of their flight to Columbus,OH.

My son is arriving at JKF terminal 8 at the same time as his friend who is landing at terminal 3, where can they meet? Is it easier for one tomeet up at the other terminal?

Let them meet at T8 - T3 is very confusing building.

We are flying into JFK from Ireland with our son and his autism assistance dog on 7/7/10 - should we just be able to clear customs in the normal way or are there additional checks with the dog? We need to catch a flight from LGA to SAV two hours after landing in JFK so we are anxious not to get delayed.

You should be fine - nothing additional in this case.
