Hi. I have never been to Terminal 8 (usually use Terminal 7) and I am very much worried after looking at the map on this website which provides that parking near Terminals 8 & 9 are closed. Is it really closed? If yes, is there any suggestion which parking lot to use?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am parking my car at jfk airport how long will it take me to get to Terminal 4? and is the air train close by?

I used it many times & it is extremely efficient and quick to get to any terminal. 10-12 min max incl wait time for the tram. Tram is very close to the long term paking facility. The parking lot actually surrounds the tram entrance.

Dont park at Avistar. I returned from a weekend trip to find that my GPS and bluetooth were missing from the glove compartment. It was my first time using them and the guy who parked the car initially said my car and stuff were safe. I stayed and called the police to make a report. While i was waiting the superviser came out and wanted to refund my entire parking fee. Then he said he had called his manager who was not working at the time. His manager said someone jumped the fence and took my GPS by breaking into my car. ONly thing was my cars locked were not even scratched. what a lame excuse. I made the report. They claimed they would reimburse me the full cost if i showed them my receipt. This was obviously an inside job. So if you dont mind parking your car with thieves go right ahead.

Avistar at Newark has the same criminals working for them. Had GPS stolen from hidden armrest compartment. Manager and staff didn't have a care in the world. Totally an inside job.

Tried to make claim with corporate only to find out they are worse than the dirtbags that work at the lots. Was told they aren't responsible. The claim agent actually had the nerve to imply I was lying. Even after filing a report with Newark police at 2am in downtown Newark at the station!!!!!

Will never recommend.

They are HORRIBLE. We used them coming home from visiting family in Texas...there were flight delays, so we arrived a Midnight...we waited 2 HOURS (with a 7 month old) for them to get our car. Then they came back and said they LOST OUR KEYS....Took my Dad to the car...he searched for them, to no avail. They FINALLY offered to get us a rental car home...but we'd have to pay for it and they'd reimburse us...We got home at 5...Dad drove back with rental car at 9am...they STILL had an hour wait, and no keys...Gave him a hard time about taking him back to rental return...All this and Dad found the keys in the corner of the door pocket...NO APOLOGIES from ANYONE...Worst experience EVER....

BEWARE!!!!! THEY ARE TERRIBLE I parked there for a week and when I came back the driver's side door was smashed and the inner door panel was in the back seat. They said the car was that way when it arrived and tried to show me their hand written note saying that the car was damaged when it arrived. The door wouldn't even close properly.
I took it to an auto body shop and they took photos and wrote that the damage was done when the door was hit when it was open - a common parking garage accident. The auto body shop also wrote that there was no rust on the damaged metal, so the damage had to occur within the last two or three days. Since the car was there for a week, it could not have been damaged when it arrived.
Despite all this info, AVISTAR claimed that both its manager and regional manager saw the car arrive damaged. There reaction was to totally ignore my letters and calls.
After reading all these comments, you decide if its safe to park your car there.

If I park long term at JFK and am traveling with 4 large bags, is there a way to transport the bags from the car to the shuttle or am I better off going with Smart Park?

The long term lot has the little push carts that you can rent for a couple bucks. You can then wheel your luggage from the car to the building that has the monorail. The building has elevators too, so getting to the platform is easy. Monorail takes you directly to any of the terminals and you can take the cart and luggage on to the monorail and leave the cart at the terminal.

However, with parking now $18 a day in long term, you may want to look into off airport options if it's a long trip.

Should I park at Avistar or Smartpark for longterm parking?

i have used smartpark before and find them to be courteous, efficient and cheaper than the other options. the jfk long term lot is easy if u don't mind the monorail (convenient but u need to walk to it and schlep ur stuff). smartpark drops u off at the door to the terminal.

Does AirTrain have hours limitations? Do they stop running at any certain hour? We are arriving late on a Saturday night and want to make sure we are able to get to our car when we get back.

Nope. Runs all night. Its pretty easy, just remember where you parked!

Could anyone please tell me the street address of the entrance to the Long Term Parking Lot at JFK and a rough estimate how long it would take me to make it to say terminal 5 frm the parking lot? Thanks in advance for sharing the information.

My complaint: It was very difficult to locate jfk long term parking info on your site. I kept getting Avistar parking on your site and an attorney advertising his services (Edward Jenks, former ADA)
