My parents are travelling
My parents are travelling from Finland, Helsinki ( JFK Finnair) to Miami (JFK American Airlines). Their transit time is 2hrs. They have to go through immigration and custom. It’s their first time to travel so far and they are not so fluent in English.

Here is description of the steps :
1. disembark the plane
2. go through US immigration.
3. pick up checked bags at the baggage belt
4. go through US customs
5. re-check bags at American Airlines connecting flights counter, located immediately after customs.
6. go to the third floor of T8 and obtain a boarding pass if they do not have one already issued by the airline. They can do that either from the self-service kiosks or from AA check-in counters.
7. go through security and look for the gate number for the flight to Miami.

Customs & Immigration can be
Customs & Immigration can be cleared in anything from 15 minutes to even an hour or two, depending on the amount of incoming flights at that time. Yes, for further flight, she will have to Security Check again.
Help with Baggage
My wife and 2 kids are flying in tomorrow. How can they get help to load luggage onto the cart and push it through customs? Is there Skycap services within the baggage claim area? Thanks.

Hi, we are arriving from SFO on AA at terminal 8 at 16:10 and departing on AerLingus at 18:30 via terminal 4. Can you tell me where to catch the train and how long this transfer will take? Thanks for you help.
JFK Overnight
I have an American Airlines flight in November that arrives from London at approx 11:30pm and my connection departs to San Francisco the next morning at 7:00am.
Where is the best place to sit and wait it out at the airport? I looked at hotels and its at least $160 w/transportation for about 5 hours so I'm not going to do that.
Can I check in for my 7:00am flight after I clear customs and go thru security to my gate and wait there? If not, any suggestions on where to wait at the airport?
I'm guessing that Terminal 8 is the same terminal where my flight will arrive and depart since they are both American Airlines flights.

For your AA flight you can
For your AA flight you can check as early as 3am , but no earlier than that. You can go to T4(via Airtrain)and spend the hours there - the building is open 24/7.
Int'l Transfer @ Terminal 8 from AA to AA
Is there an international transit area @ JFK's Terminal 8 or do I need to do immigration when travelling from Europe to Costa Rica via JFK on AA?!
Changing the terminals
My 17 yrs old daughter is flying from Vienna to JFK on October 16th . She will arrive at terminal 1 at 2:15 pm. Connection flight to San Diego where we meet is at 5:15 pm from Terminal 8 withh AA . My questions are :
1) what should she do at the moment she land?
2)Can you please list the steps she should follow to save time for her connection ?

We are flying today from Toronto arrivng at 9.50pm (AA4471)in terminal 8 and need to catch a flight from Terminal 4 at 11.50 pm. Do we clear customs in Toronto? How long is the transfer between terminals and what do we have to do? thanks,

Meeting in terminal 8 (or terminal 3)
My girlfriend and I are both arriving in JFK this Friday, she to terminal 8 at 19:40, and the coming through immigration, I to reminal 3 at 20:15 and not going through immigration.
Could you please suggest a good place to meet in either terminal?
