AirTrain from your terminal
AirTrain from your terminal to Jamaica Station; Long Island Rail Road from Jamaica to Penn Station New York (frequent service); NJ Transit from Penn Station to Princeton Junction (check www.njtransit.com for schedule).

Penn train station
Upon landing I shall be shuttling to the Super 8 Jamaica Hotel. The next morning I need get to Penn train station. Do you advise catching the subway from a station near the hotel (if so, which one?)or would it be better to catch the shuttle back to JFK and then travel to Penn train station?
The Super 8 is walking
The Super 8 is walking distance to the Jamaica LIRR or Sutphin Blvd. E subway, both stop at Penn Station.

9 hour stop over
Hi,we fly back from a 2 week holiday to Dublin from Orlando and we have a 9 hour stopover in JFK ON 10TH August 2011.Our flight is Delta DL2058 which lands at 09.44 to connect for our flight to Dublin which departs at 18.50hrs,DL58.
We where never in New York before and i was thinking this would be a great opportunity to spend a couple of hours looking around.
My question is ,Would this be achievable and what problems might i encounter?
We,3 adults, dont mind getting a taxi as we believe this will be the quickest route.Could you please advise us.
Although a taxi might be
Although a taxi might be *slightly* faster than public transportation, there is a possibility that it would be slower, depending on traffic. I suggest taking the JFK AirTrain to Jamaica station ($5 per person each way, or $25 for a 10-ride card that the three of you could share). From Jamaica, there are two options: the Long Island Rail Road will take you to Penn Station in 20 minutes for $6.25 per person each way, or the "E" subway will take you to Lexington Avenue/53rd Street in 30 minutes for $2.25 per person each way. Depending on where you want to go/ what you want to see in Manhattan, you might want to take the rail road in, and the subway back, or vice versa.
Yes, taxi would be the
Yes, taxi would be the fastest and the three of you can share the $50+tip fare (each way) to/from JFK. Please remember to allow one hour travel time to/from JFK and return at least two hours prior to international departure to allow for check-in and security. Ideally, if your flight from Orlando arrives on time you could be in Manhattan by 11am and would need to be on the way back to JFK by 3:30pm.
luggage
thank you for that last reply it was most helpful. There is one more thing, will my hold luggage be transferred automatically when we land at JFK or will i have to transfer it myself to the flight to dublin? Sorry if this seems a daft question.
If your MCO-JFK flight and
If your MCO-JFK flight and your JFK-DUB flight are all on a single ticket, Delta should be able to check your baggage all the way through to DUB when you check in at MCO. Be sure to request that the agent do so.
If each flight is on a separate ticket, I"m not sure what Delta would do, since you have such a long layover at JFK. If Delta refuses to check your bags all the way through at MCO, you may have a problem at JFK: I don't think that Delta will let you check bags more than four hours before departure time. If you find yourself in that situation, consider using one of the temporary luggage-storage facilities at JFK. I know that there's one in Terminal 4 (which you can reach for free by AirTrain); I'm not sure whether the DL terminal has such a facility.
If requested by customer(and
If requested by customer(and showing the itinerary) DL agents at MCO have to check all the bags through. FYI - there is luggage storage at Terminal 3 , area B(By Hotel Reservation Desk).
we arrive at JFK at 2pm on
we arrive at JFK at 2pm on 26th July and need to get to penn station via Jamaica station and heard there is construction on LIRR; what are my options?
Can you provide a link to
Can you provide a link to the information about construction on the LIRR? In the unlikely event that this construction causes a suspension of service between Jamaica and Penn Station, you can always take the "E" subway from Jamaica to Penn Station. The subway takes about 40 minutes and costs $2.25 per person if a Metrocard is used; or $2.50 if a single-ride ticket is used. The LIRR takes abot 20 minutes for the same trip, but costs $6.25 per person during off-peak times (trains arriving Penn Station weekdays after 10:00 AM).
The AirTrain costs $5.00 per person from JFK to Jamaica.
question about going to Long Island
what are the specific steps I will need to take to go to the Syossett train station in Long Island?
I am arriving with Delta Airlines.
Where do I take the transportation to go there?
which train do I take?
How much does it cost?
is it safe?
(sorry for all the questioning but I really need specifics, I don't know what to do when I arrive.
