Hi, we are going to spend 5
Hi, we are going to spend 5 days in NY, in an hotel situated close to Times Square. What will be the best thing for us to do? Go by subway? Shuttle bus? Taxi? Buy a card for the subway?..
Taxi is easiest and most
Taxi is easiest and most direct, but most expensive at $45+tolls+tip. You can take the NY Airporter bus from terminal to Port Authority ($15) which is only a few blocks from Times Square, or AirTrain to Jamaica Station and E subway ($2.25) to 42nd St. If you expect to use public transportation to get around during your stay definitely get a Metrocard. You can buy a pay-per-ride card, put as much $ as you want on it and use it for subway, bus and AirTrain. The 7-Day Unlimited Pass is $29 which includes unlimited subway and bus until midnight, but does not include AirTrain.

stop over
Hello,
I'd like to know how long before the flight should we be in the airport, if it is a stop over. We have 5 hours stop over in JFK, and we thought we could visit NY for an hour or two.
Thank you very much
Two hours before departure
Two hours before departure is always recommended. It will take you about one hour each way to/from Manhattan so that doesn't leave you much time. If you are arriving on an international flight you will also spend time clearing customs.

Transfer
Arriving at Terminal 7 at 1:15pm. Departing Terminal 1 at 4:45 on Turkish Air. Which train would I catch and how long will it take for me to go from 1 to 7. I believe I will also have to check in at TK and go through security again. Is an hour and a half enough time to do all of this and make it to my flight on time?
Take AirTrain on track 2
Take AirTrain on track 2 from T1 to T7, takes about five minutes or less. You can take a train on track 1 but will make more stops and take longer. You should have plenty of time.
