Dutch airspace closed
Schiphol airport cancelled all flights untill atleast 14:00/2:00 PM May 17. Intercontinental flights to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will be rerouted to other big European airports. The UK decided to slowly start flying again at 08:00/8:00 AM this morning. Airports there still suffer from heavy delays.
The ash cloud above the Netherlands and the UK is much denser and thicker than the one last month.
Please contact your airline before going to the airport.

Is there a place in the airport Terminal 8 where one can get a US mobile number to use while in the US?
From JFK to Manhattan
When you exit the terminal, look for the nearest taxi stand (our taxis are yellow and easily visible). The line is usually across the street from where you exit the building.
Be aware the cost is a FLAT RATE in the amount of $45 (no more than $50 with any authorized additional charges) from JFK to anywhere in Manhattan.
Travel time will should be less than 30 minutes without traffic.
Do not accept a ride from the men who stand outside offering taxis. They are illegal, they rarely leave right away and instead wait around to fill the car with as many people, and customers report of excessive charges.

Aunt at JFK
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do for her at the moment. However, JFK is full of people making the best of the situation and she is therefore not alone. I have seen several staff members walking around, assisting when they can. There are bathrooms, water fountains, and food items from vending machines that can be purchases for a few dollars.
Flights are resuming at about 8-9 am New York time. She will have an uncomfortable night on a chair, but the good news is that officials expect the ash to dissipate by the morning.

Hi, My aunt was supposed to leave today from JFK airport to Amman - Jordan, but the flight was delayed and she got lost in the airport with her 2 kids.
she was supposed to get on RJ flight at 11 NY time to arrive in Amman on 16 may at 5:15.
i dont know where is she and what can we do for her. we can not talk to her she does not have a phone and the worst is that she does not have enough money. what can i do from here in amman

Was she connecting at JFK? Most likely she was re-booked for the next flight(they have one flight a day so that would be next day)

Time for connection T2/T3
I have a Delta flight DL 2463 booked to LAX departing T2 at 17.00 on the 21st Jan 2011 connecting with V Australia flight onward to BNE, Australia.
Do I clear customs / immigration at JFK or LAX?
Would a connecting flight from MCO to JFK and arriving at 15.02 at T3 give me enough time to connect with the DL 2463 or should I book an earlier flight from Orlando?

You don't clear customs/immigration when you are leaving USA. Almost two hours is plenty of time to transfer(especially if you don't have to change airlines/buildings)

Hi,
i'm wondering how to get to National Car rental when taking the airtrain.
I'm coming from manhattan, so i take the subway to jamaica to get on the airtrain.
But where do i get off to get to the National Car rental office to pick up my car ?
