Is one and a half hour sufficient to clear immigration formalities, collect baggage and clear customs and move from terminal 4 to terminal 8 to catch connecting flight.

It is sufficient, just remember that you have to make it at T8 ahead of departure time(at least 45 min for domestic and 1:15 min for intl)

i am flying jet blue from bogota to jfk. 3 hrs after arrival jfk, i would be taking air india to mumbai
. do i have enough time ? the flights have different pnr numbers. in case jet blue is delayed, will the airlines arrange for my next flight?

You do have plenty of time. Air India is at T4. Are both flights on one itinerary ? In that case Jet Blue should reschedule your next flight(which most likely will be next day)if they are late(enough so you miss the connection).

Whats the best way to get from the airport to Times Square? I'm arriving at 8.30 tonight and I'm staying in a hotel just off Times Square. On the map it looks quite close to Central Station, so I'm wondering if it's possible to get there by train at that time of night?
If not, any ideas how long/much a cab or shuttle bus would be?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

The NYAS bus leaves from each terminal and stops at Grand Central Station ($15). You can also take Airtrain from your terminal to Jamaica Station and transfer to the E subway to Lexington/53rd St. and transfer to the downtown #6 to Grand Central. Taxi is $50+.

What is the best for JFK to Portland Hotel (Times Square)??? Taxi or Train?? If train, which one?

Taxi is more direct and a bit faster, $50+. By subway take Airtrain from your terminal to Jamaica Station and transfer to E subway, transfer at Lexington/53rd St. to the downtown #6 to Grand Central/42nd St., $7.25 for airtrain/subway.

I am flying into JFK with British Airways on June 6th at approx 8pm and am to meet friends who are flying in to JFK at approx 5pm the same day with Virgin Airlines.
Where would be a easy and accessable place for us to meet each other? Thank you.

Since they will be at JFK before you and T7 is less complicated than T4 I would suggest them to meet you at T7, first floor, international arrivals. Starbucks coffee shop there is good reference point.

I arrive in JFK at 10.35pm on June 10. What is the best way to travel into Manhattan cheaply? I think I will have missed the last bust

Airtrain and subway run 24/7, costs $7.25. Depending on where in Manhattan you want to go, you can either take Airtrain to Howard Beach station and the A subway (Lower Manhattan-West Side-Upper Manhattan) or to Jamaica station and the E subway (along 53rd St. Midtown and then downtown West Side to WTC).

Im going from New York to Guayaquil By LAN EC but how much does it takes to reach the airport from intercontinental the barclay new york ?

Taxi will cost $50+. You can walk down to Grand Central and take the NYAS bus ($15) or walk up Lexington to 53rd St. and take the Queens-bound E subway to Sutphin/Archer/JFK and transfer to Airtrain to your terminal ($7.25). Also check with your hotel for transportation to JFK.
