You are right. You will have to pick up the baggage yourself and go through the customs and then you will meet your parents in the arrival hall.

Only passengers are allowed in the baggage claim area.

Morning,

My mom is flying in from Australia by way of LA on Qantas, and I'm due to pick her up at terminal 7.

3 Questions:

My understanding is I won't be allowed to meet her until after she's gone through customs/immigration and picked up her luggage.
1) Is there a spot where I can meet her? We're just afraid if there are multiple exits I may not find her. This is her first time traveling to the states alone.

2) As a failsafe, is there a spot I can tell her to meet me at the terminal?

3) She's due to land at 5PM. What time should I expect her to come out after customs/immigration and baggage so I know when to arrive to pick her up?

Thank you!

You can met her at terminal 7 arrivals since it is a very straightforward terminal. Give her about 1.5 hours to come out.

Hi, we are arrivig at 8:15pm from HK and plan to depart to Orlando from T5 at 10pm.
We have to go to the Immigrant and claim the baggages.
How can we get the T5 from T7? Is it possible within 120mins? Thanks edy

Take Airtrain from across the street and upstairs, on track 2; get off next stop - it is only 1 min ride.

You are cutting it very close. I am assuming you are taking Cathay Pacific, US Airways or United Airlines from HK to JFK since that is the terminal that you will arrive in the U.S from Hong Kong. (Terminal 7) You will have to go through immigration and recheck your bags in order to pass the Customs since you will be boarding U.S flight inside the U.S. As far as getting from Terminal 7 to Terminal 7 take an air train on the 3rd floor and it will get you quickly from point A to point B.

i'll be claiming my baggage at Terminal 7 to join an international flight at Terminal 4. How do i carry my luggage between the two terminals? Are trolleys allowed on Airtrain or is there some other means of moving with my luggage and a 9 month old baby!
Thanks

The trolleys are allowed on the Airtrain. The alternative way of transportation between the terminals is to use a yellow cab - it costs between $7-$10.

Yes they are allowed and you can use air train it is fast and free and transfers you between terminals in just few minutes.

Cindy, I asked the same question a few days ago. Yes, baggage trolleys/carts are allowed on Airtrain, but I was wondering what the procedure for acquiring a cart at JFK T7 are. Cash? (coins or bills) Credit Card? If you find out, please let me know. Thanks, Terry

The baggage cart costs $5 nonrefundable(meaning you don't get money back after you use and leave the cart).
There are vending machines throughout the airport - they accept major credit cards and cash(bills and coins) as well. Be aware that the maximum change that can be returned is $5(in coins).

I believe you have to pay with coins for the carts at the airport

Good afternoon,
I will arrive at Terminal 7 but i have to go pick my sister who arrives same day to terminal 4.How can y go from terminal 7 to Terminal 4?
Is there any bus between terminals or any train?are they free?
Thank you

Take airtrain it is fun and free
