Dear JFK Airport team,

An agency is offering me a ticket, and I’d like to ask you to see if the connection in JFK is OK before I buy the ticket. I am not a US citizen.

I am arriving from Paris to JFK terminal 1 at 15:50. Then I need go terminal 8 for flight to Nashville at 17:59.

Is this enough time (2 hr 9 min) for passport control, customs, taking luggage in terminal 1 and giving it in terminal 8?

Are there any things I need know or any things I can do to speed up my passage via these terminals?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes it is an OK time frame for you to clear all customs pick up your bags go through immigration and check in for your second flight as long as your first flight arrives at JFK on time.
One thing you may already know is to make sure to fill out Customs Declaration form before you arrive at JFK. Usually flight crew should supply you with those forms during the flight to U.S. Other than that there is nothing else you have to do. I hope luck will be on your side during your flight.

Dear JFK_Specialist,

Thank you very much for your help. Here are three further points:

1. The quickest way to get from terminal 1 to terminal 8 is the airport train? Which train number I need catch? How much time they take to go from one terminal to the other?

2. If I have to wait a line in the airport (in any of two terminals) then is it OK to ask the other passengers or the security personally to let me go without waiting since my flight is soon?

3. And… in worst case, assume I don’t get my second flight (well, things happen - on that day there may be unusually many passengers), then what can I do I such a situation? I ask this because I fly with my wife and child… so I need be careful!

Dear mikaelian
1. Yes the fastest way from terminal 1 to terminal 8 is by an air train. It is an air train on track 1. It should be about 2 minutes.
2. You can always politely ask them.
3. Check with your airline regarding refund policy before you go on your flight to weight your future options.

Hi
I'll be arriving from Washington DC by AA to Terminal 8 at 10.20pm and need to catch the American Airlines flight to Toronto Pearson from Terminal 8 departing at 11.20pm.
Will I have enough time for that? Thanks in advance.
(Oh, and I'm not an American citizen, I'm Italian. I don't know if that can influence the controls.)

Very tight. My understanding is that both flights are with the same airline. Make sure in DC your bags are checked all the way through and make sure you have boarding passes printed out. Both flights take place at the same terminal so it is just a matter of walking distance from one gate to the next without clearing security. If you arriving flight is late you are out of luck and may not make it to your connecting flight.

I come from Barcelona to JFK T8 in the flight AA67 and connect with the flight AA1775 T8 to Miami, espected connection time 1h 45min, it is sufficient?, is it necessary control of customs and immigration between both flights?

Yes you will clear both once you arrive in the U.S. Your time frame should be enough to make it as long as your arriving flight is on time.

We are planning on traveling from Helsinki to Miami via JFK. How much time do we need at the JFK to clear customs and immigartions and check our bags? We arrive to and depart from terminal 8. And on the way home we have to switch terminals from 8 to 2, what is the estimated time we need for that? AirTrain must be the way to go? Thanks!

Go on an air train take it on track 2 from T8 to T2. About two minute for you to do that. Customs and Immigration may take you up to an hour.

I'm arriving at Jfk terminal 8 at 12:30 pm by Am Airlines. I have to take a flight to Los Angeles with Am Airlines at 1:45 pm in the same terminal.... Have I enough time to do that?

It will be extremely tight especially coming from international to domestic flight. I would suggest allow a longer time frame between the flights.

About 40 minutes for immigration and customs. From terminal 8 take train on track 2 to terminal 2. About 3 minutes for you to do that.

I'm scheduled to arrive at 4:50 on AA from Europe, need to clear customs and get to T5 for a 7pm flight. Is it feasible to clear customs and make the train over to T5 and keep to that schedule? Appreciate your input.
