Do you you believe the airport will be closed on Sunday around 2pm? I will be here to pick up a student at that time but i do not know if i can get into the airport because of the storm. It is great to find out this place to ask question.
Here is my case:
I am living in Richmond, VA and my Mom will come to visit us from Shanghai China. We have booked the ticket for MU587 from PVG to JFK. It will arrive the JFK terminal 1.
At the same today, i plan to take DL3807 from RIC to JFK to pick up my Mom. My flight will arrive in terminal 3.
Here is my question:
Am i able to enter terminal 1 to pick up my Mom, since she is not able to speak English, i'd like to meet her as soon as possible. Where can be the first place to meet her?

You are allowed to see her
You are allowed to see her at Terminal 1 arrivals hall after she clear Customs and Immigration.

Question : How to pick up someone in Terminal 1?

Here is my case:

You can only enter terminal
You can only enter terminal 1 arrivals hall. Once your mom clears Immigration and Customs along with picking up her luggage you will see her coming through Terminal 1 arrivals hall.

Terminal 1 is for Air
Terminal 1 is for Air France. You can check stores at Terminal 1 arrivals hall and see if you can buy sim cards there.

I will be arriving JFK on 8/26 from Vienna on Austrian Airlines flight OS87 at 1:45 PM.My connecting flight is with Delta at 4:15 PM, DL123 to Atlanta.Can you please tell me if Delta is leaving from terminal 3,do I have to carry my luggage there for re check in and how far is it to reach there?Will I have enough time to make my flight?
