History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

Rest area for handicap travellers
Hi. I have MS and use a walker. I am traveling from Dallas to Barcelona on Sundy , Oct. 16, I have a 7-hour layover @ JFK before board an AA 8-hour flight. Is there a rest area @ JFK? I am willing to pay if necessary.

Check in time
What is latest check in time for an 8 pm flight JFK to reykjavik Iceland. Plan on taking long island railroad and air train. Would be helpful to know what time to arrive Jamaica station. Will not be checking luggage.

Could you tell me the easiest way to get from Terminal 4 to Park Place in Brooklyn using public transport. I am arriving on Wednesday at around 13.30. And how do I pay? Thank you.
Take the B15 bus from T4 to
Take the B15 bus from T4 to the #3 subway station at New Lots Ave. Take the #3 subway, stop depends on your Park Place address, then walk north to Park Place. For Park Slope/Prospect Heights area exit Bergen St or Grand Army Plaza, for Crown Heights exit Utica Ave. You can purchase a pay-per-ride Metrocard at T4 before you leave to pay for bus and subway, otherwise bus requires exact change coin only no bills.
