I was robbed at JFK
'I was robbed at JFK'
First of all, I'm an asian guy from Korea. I arrived at JFK on June 28. After I passed the immigration, I was looking at tha map on the wall to find the way to the Air Train at terminal 8.
At that moment one of the guys(2~3) who were wearing kind of uniforms so looked like staffs of JFK came to me and asked me where to go, so I said that I want to take a Air Train to go to Jamaican Station. Then he kindly guided me through the way to the Air Train station.
the guys are black i remember.
After a while, we reached around the Air Train station and I started looking at the map on the wall again. but he kindly hurried me into passing out some gate saying I should wait a vehicle there to take the Air Train to go to Jamaican St. He pointed the spot to wait for the vehicle.
When I got there, there was one fat guy waiting for something. (mixed asian?) He started talking to me and we got to talk each other. "Where are you from?", "What do you do?"...etc.
And then some van, not a taxi, reached to us, and the drivers got out of the van and carried on my luggage to the trunk, we got on the van and he start to drive the van. the driver was black man, he was pretending he was disabled.
I was thinking that this van was going to nearby Air train station or JFK offered this van service instead of Air Train for same fee because I was new to here and some staff looking guy guided me to here after knowing that I was looking for Air Train.
I did not realize somethings go wrong until the driver kept driving the van so far away and another visitor kept talking to me bla bla bla taking away my attention so I can't think of others.
I kept asking "Where is the Air Train Station?", "How long do I have to go more to reach the Air Train station?", "Is this way to the Air Train station, right?", "I know the Air Train fee is 5 dollars, I would pay only 5 dollars when I ride off, ok?"
Actually my english is not that good but It can not be possible that they don't understand me. I don't think so.
After all, as I worried about, we reached to Jmaican Station directly and the drivers asked for $197!!!!!
I kept saying that that didn't make sense and I told the JFK staff that I wanted to take the Air Train so he take me to this van, and I told you I was going to Air Train Station and I would pay you only $5.
He said "This is not a train, this is a van, it's necessarily much more expensive than train."
I said "I will call to JFK right now". but my phone was out of area.
I asked another visitor like "Will you pay this fee?, Did you know that you should pay $197?" He said he didn't know but unwillingly he would pay.
I already became aware of the fact that they are a team-swindler or robber.
He said that he thought that JFK and I made a miscomunication so he would call to JFK to check out what was going on. then he called to somewhere and pretended to talk to someone.
The conversation was like below:
2 visitors are in his van and he took them to Jamaican Station by driving, but one visitor who looked like student kept saying he couldn't pay the fee, There would be some miscommunication between the visitor and JFK...
After hanging up, he told me that JFK said that I could pay $150 for student discount rate.
Actually I knew that they were swindlers but I was afraid of them because they could have a guns so I paied two &100 notes expecting $50 of refund.
but the driver showed me back one $100 note and one $10 note and asked for $40 more.
I was aware of that He changed my $100 note to $10 note but i was scared.
at the moment another visitor biside me gave me $40 saying he would help me.
I paied the $40 and took off the van.
The driver unloaded my luggages kindly and said bye, and left.
HOW CAN I GET MY MONEY BACK AND MAKE THEM GO TO JAIL?
ANYBODY HELP ME PLEASE.
