AirTrain JFK is the train service that operates between JFK

  • Jamaica Station route

The Jamaica route ends at Jamaica Station on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR)
next to the Sutphin Boulevard/Archer Avenue-JFK subway station (to Brooklyn
and Manhattan or Queens).

Both routes make a counterclockwise loop through the airport and stop at each
terminal.

You can take the J train to Canal St. from the Jamaica subway stop at the end of the AirTrain. Check out the NYC Subway Map on their website for subway lines and station locations.

Hi we will be arriving in FK airport at about 7.30pm on the 11th Nov and need to get to our hotel on W 39th Street. What is the best way? Shuttle, bus, taxi or train/subway? We are close to the Port Authority bus station so what about the NYAS bus? Looked on tripadvisor and many of the buses and shuttles get a real slating and yet they are so much cheaper than a taxi. But would we be better paying for a taxi? Is there likely to be a long queue at the taxi rank at that time of night?
Any advise would be great.

I highly recommend taking the Olympia coach buses from JFK to Manhattan Port Authority Bus Terminal. There is one every 15 minutes and charges $15 to $20 as compared to a cab that may cost up to $100. Subways are cheap too, but you will have to take the Airtrain ($5)to the subway ($2 for any number of transfers!!) You would take the 'E' Train from the Jamaica station to either 32nd or 42nd street in Manhattan. The problem is that this may be a little inconvenient if you are traveling with big bags. Check out

Good luck with your trip to NYC.

If you need directions by any means of transportation in NYC, go to hopstop.com. This is the most reliable source. Go Yankees!

Thanks for the info. The bus you mention is the way I think we will go but some others have mentioned taxis being only $45. They say that is is a fixed rate but I don't know if this includes tolls. Do you have any info?

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW I GET FROM TERMINAL 7 TO 87TH STREET ON MANHATTAN?

If I get on the LIRR from the Air Train at Jamaica station, does it go straight to Hicksville, or are there changes along the way? And is there information when I get to Jamaica station where to go to get to the LIRR to Hicksville.

There is a direct train that goes through Hicksville to Huntington that you can board at Jamaica.
