Hi,

My parents are traveling from India --> JFK -->San Francisco on April 28, 2010. They are arriving by JetAirways 12:15PM at terminal 8 and have a connecting flight (United Airlines) 14:33PM at terminal 7.
They are senior citizens and using wheel chair assistance.
1. Is this time gap 2:15 mins is sufficient to catch connecting flight in terminal 7?
2. Can we check in the baggage (after immigration and customs) at terminal 8?
3. Is wheel chair access takes more time to catch connecting flight? Will they help them to check in baggage to connecting flight?
4. What is best way to go terminal 7?

Thanks

Hi,
1. Yes , the gap is sufficient to make the transfer.
2. They can do that at T8 Connecting flights counter(located right after customs)
3. Having a wheelchair assistance is a huge benefit because the wheelchair people know the procedures and the fastest way to get to passenger's connecting flights. They will assist thought up to the point to the check-in counter of the connecting airline.
4. Airtrain is the best/fastest way to Terminal7

I'll arrive from doha (qatar) in terminal 4 and will go to Montreal with American Airline in teminal 8. I'll have a 2h10 connection time. Do you think it's possible? What about the customs? My luggages?

It is possible to make the connection. You collect your bags in order to go through US customs. As soon as you exit customs look for Qatar Airways Connecting flights counter where you can recheck you bags onto your next flight to Montreal. Then go on the third floor and take ANY Airtrain on ANY side/track to Terminal 8.

Hi, I am supposed to arrive JFK Terminal 8 on Monday, 17 May 2010 on Finnair from Helsinki at 15:50, and have to board US Airways US6226 (Operated by United Airlines) flight from Terminal 7 to SFO which leaves at 18:59. If my flight from Helsinki is on time, will that be enough time for me to transfer to the plane to SFO? As I will have to go through Immigration as well? And also do I need to pick up my baggage and check it in again, or will it be automatically transferred to the connecting flight for SFO?

Judging by responses by JFK_E elsewhere, that should be plenty of time.

Thanks Brad:),
Nishant, you have to pick up your bags since you are arriving on international flight in order to clear them at US customs. Then recheck them in at Finnair Connecting flights counter.
And, as Brad wrote, you have plenty of time to do that.

Hi

My boss will arrive JFK Terminal 8 today at 4:50 pm. His flight is from Helsinki to JFK. Then he need to catch a flight at 7:00 pm, from JFK to Kansas. He is a U.S Citizen. If his plane from Helsinki is on schedule, will that leave enough time for him to transfer to the plane to Kansas City (Terminal 3).
Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi- we have two groups arriving within 5 mins. Group one arriving in terminal 7 (United), group two terminal 8/9 (American -domestic). There is more of us coming in on terminal 7 but we all need to meet together so we can catch our van together. Would it be easier if we all meet at termianl 8/9 baggage area or terminal 7? I read that the airtrain goes counter clock wise. Please let me know the best way for all of us to meet up. The van will pick us up at either locations.

Thanks!
Allison

Hi Alison,
it does not really matter where you will be meeting each other. Airtrain has two routes(clockwise one and counter clockwise one) and between T7 and T8 you can use either route. That means one stop only. Terminal 7 is smaller , not that congested and very easy to pick up large groups so from that point of view I will choose T7 as a meeting point. Furthermore, T8 has one of its roads(the closest one) restricted for private vehicles.

Hi, I'm arriving at JFK Terminal 8 on Sunday, Sept. 12th with Finnair from Helsinki at 3:50 PM, and I should get to AA's flight from the same terminal to Washington Reagan Airport which leaves at 6:40 PM. If my plane from Helsinki is on schedule, will that leave enough time for me to transfer to the plane to Washington? Since I'm coming from Finland, I'll have to go through visa and customs, right? And will I need to pick up my baggage and check it in again, or will it be automatically transferred to the connecting flight? Just wanted to ask about the queues, since I had to wait for over two hours just to reach customs when I came to NYC in 2005.

The time window is enough for you. You have to go through immigration, pick up your bags, go through customs and then transfer your bags at AA connecting flights counter.
You should not face big/long queues at that time.
