my mom is flying from india to cleveland with qatar airways.her flight will land at JFK at 1500 hrs on terminal 4 n her flight 2 cleveland is from terminal 8 american airlines at 1700 hrs..do u think it is sufficient time 4 her 2 change planes and hw can she expediate the process and make it faster?

She lands at the time when Terminal 4(and JFK as well) is at its busiest. Two hours will be tight for her to make the connection. After she clears immigration she will pick up her bags and go through customs. Then let her recheck her check-in bags at Qatar connecting flights counter onto her next flight(so she won't have to carry them to T8).
From that point she has to go to the third floor and take ANY Airtrain on ANY track/side. Terminal 8 is three stops away either direction. If she is not confident she can ask any employee at T4 to show her the way(assist her) to the Airtrain station.

I am getting ready to book flights for a trip to Italy in July. If I fly Delta and fly back to JFK with an arrival time of 5pm, how much time should I give myself to get through customs and the board another domestic flight? More specifically, I'd be flying Delta's ft 169 FCO to JFK that arrives at 5pm.

I am thinking of booking my domestic flight separately, so it probably would not be on Delta (probably Virgin America to SFO).

Thanks.
glper

Give yourself at least 2.5-3 hours between the flights.
5pm is a peak period for Delta at T3 so I will expect somewhere around 40-50 min. in customs.

I'm sorry, I also wanted to ask is it too early to know the gates we arrive and depart; arrive Delta 6764, and leave; Delta 527 on 4/4/10.

Thanks Again!

Yes, it is early. The airlines can change the gates(for arriving and departing) any time they need to.

Hello,

I wondered if you could help me with some information. I am due to fly into JFK in June from the UK. I will be in New York for 3 days and then fly from New York to Poland for 3 weeks and flying back to New York on 21st July then flying back to UK the next day on 22nd July. I will have all my tickets for my travel, will I encounter any problems going through U.S. Immigration flying in and out of New York on a separate trip if my return date to the UK is not till the 22nd July? I would be grateful for any information or help with this matter. I have tried everywhere to get an answer. Thanks in advance

My fiancee and I are headed to Antigua next Easter Sunday 4/4 leaving Buffalo @ 6am (getting married 4/7). Is 3:30am early enough to arrive at the airport? And we only have 46 mins between our flights at JFK. With the runway construction do you think we will be ok?

Congratulations on your marriage!!!
I guess you are flying on Jet Blue. Two hours and half is a good timing before domestic flight. And if you are connecting on the same airline at JFK(Jet Blue) - 46 min is OK.

Hello!

I am flying JFK-CAI in May (Delta). I am coming in from Detroit at 7:10 at terminal 4. My flight to CAI is through Terminal 3 leaves at 9:45. I was wondering will I have enough time to get from terminal to terminal? Will I need to go through security and will I need to get my bags and check them in again? I am flying Delta throughout my whole trip!

Thanks!!

You do have enough time to transfer.
Your bags will be checked all the way through CAI. You have to go from T4 over to T3(take Airtrain on track 2 for one stop). At Terminal 3 you still have to go through security.

Hi,
Any info on when I should arrive at JFK to catch a flight at 6.30 PM om april 3rd?
/Mikael

Hi Mikael,
If it is international flight - 2.5-3 hours in advance is enough. For domestic - 1.5-2 hours will be sufficient.
