Need help, best way to 14th St between 8th an 9th Avenue from JFK? Would prefer the cheapest way!

Appreciate any help
Phil

Hi Phil,
The cheapest way to get to your destination is by public transportation. Take Airtrain from JFK(any terminal) to either Jamaica Station or Howard Beach Station - cost $5.
At Jamaica Station take subway line "E"("A" at HB Station) to 14 Street stop - cost $2.25. 14 Street stop is located right on 8th Ave in Manhattan.
See http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/subwaymap.pdf for reference.

Thank you for your help.
The link you provided doesn't work, could you check it works?

Having not been to NY before, how safe is subway and will it be busy at around 6-7pm?
We live in Australia, smaller population, smaller cities.

I've found a good map of subway and can see the way you suggest, just wondering why you didn't suggest getting out at Broadway Junction, it looks more direct and therefore maybe faster?
Does it cost more or difficult, just curious!

When it boils down to it, I will go with your suggestions.

Thanks

Hi,
try this link for subway map - http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm

Subway in NY is very safe at those hours. Transferring at Broadway Junction on line L will not be faster because L is a local subway(while E or A are express). If you notice the express subways stopped on the white dot marked stops only.

Thanks again, I understand now.
How long would it normally take?

Could you also advise me the best way to Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (Bowne St and Imlay St)Brooklyn?
The cruise we are taking departs from there at 6pm on 19th December.

Also suggestion for getting to JFK from cruise terminal.

Appreciate all your help.
Phil

It usually takes 1hr and 15 min.
To get to Brooklyn Cruise Terminal you have to end up on the subway line F(going towards Brooklyn) and get off on Bergen Street where you can look for public bus B61; take the bus towards Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.

From Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to JFK:
Take the same bus B61 towards Downtown Brooklyn. Ask the driver which stop to get off for subway line F(Bergen Street station). Take line F towards Manhattan(Queens) and at Jay street station transfer to subway line A towards Rockaway. Get off at Howard Beach Station and take Airtrain to JFK.

What I want to know is that if I bring in Checked Luggage Cooked/Canned food to the will all types of food be liable to disclosure or is it a particular type of food that they require that I disclose. If its the latter I can choose to bring only that type of food to avoid being delayed.

Also if i fill the Check in form online before physically landing how would the procedure differ from filling the form at the airport and what should I do when I land? Will it save time?

I have 2 questions:

* In April, I'll be entering the U.S. with my small dog. My final destination will be NY, but I may have to take a flight with first point of entry into the US in another city first. If this is the case do I have to go through customs at the first point of entry? (If this is the case I will have to leave enough time between flights to clear, especially, my dog.

* At what time does the customs office at JFK and Newark airports for clearing pets close?

Is there any free Wifi Hot spot in the Terminal 1

My father is flying back from ecuador tomorrow in AEROGAL flights, and I would like to know where can I park to pick him up, in what terminal should I park or waht adress should I put in the GPS.

Aerogal arrives at T4; park at the short term parking at T4.

Please tell me: is it allowed or is it prohibited to bring to USA Cuban cigars and rum for personal use (not for sale)? My friends will be travelling to US and would like to take a pack of cigars and a bottle of rum with them to make a personal gift. Will the customs officer in your airport let them enter the country, or is it prohibited?
Thank you in advance for information.

Not a problem. As long as it is not in big quantities.

A friend is flying in from Chicago on Delta Comair Connection, arriving at 6:10 pm on Wed eve into Terminal 3. She is departing on El Al at 11:50 pm from Terminal 4. She keeps kosher and would like to leave the airport to go out to dinner in Lawrence or Cedarhurst. Do we have time to do this? Where should I meet her when she arrives? Will her bag be transferred from Delta Comair to El Al, or do we have to do this? Will she be able to check in at El Al and check her bag as soon as she arrives from Chicago? If she does so, what time will she have to be back at El Al to go thru security? Is there any kosher food pre-security at JFK? Post-security? If so, can I get a gate pass to go with her to a post-security restaurant?

Marilyn, I am afraid you will not have time to do anything outside the airport. Check the food court at T4 - you may find kosher food in the restaurants there. You will meet your friend either at T3 or T2 - check once you get there where exactly the flight arrives. If your friend checked through her bags in Chicago then she should not be worried about transferring them at JFK.
All the restaurants are before security at T4.
