I´ll be arriving from Helsinki, Finland on tuesday 05 Jul 11 with flight 6025 to Terminal 8 at 3.50pm and need to catch the American Airlines flight 257 to Las Vegas at 5.05pm (terminal 8). Do I have to recheck my bags and go through customs and Immigration in New York and will I have enough time to catch the flight? And what will happen if I don´t make it in time? Please answer me asap and thank you in advance.

You can have your bags
You can have your bags checked thru to Vegas. Your time frame for making the Vegas flight is very tight. If you can get to the gate by 4:55 you will make this flight otherwise you will have to take a later flight
